Nothing particularly exciting. I like the Sienkiewicz covers for Dazzler. Trying out Spider-Woman and Thing. Look like fun reads.

I remember when all those "Thing" comics came out and reading them all. It was a time where you could just read the issue and enjoy it, generally without crossovers or Soap Opera dialogues or anything of the sort. Yea, the Beyonder was something major, but that about it. Definitely a different era where reading was #1

Yeah, I'm definitely a fan of 1980s Marvel, probably because I grew up reading that era. For as much schlock was put out, it was also pretty fun.

ok then....skipping next convention...had an expensive weekend.

This was one of the offenders...I have a 'Shelly' autograph but it's on something too large that I will likely never frame and will have to go some day - this is nice though has an auto and remark on a reprint of one of his covers - not sure I've seen it before but it looks familiar!!

Some great books there....that entire TOS run is undervalued. That Avengers 46 has some amazing cover art, just bought myself one that is slabbed as well. Those Howard the Duck books are great ones to get with the first appearance of Kiss in comic books...the boys are out there now on their last tour ever. Spider woman series is all great spec and easy to afford right now..it wont stay that way

Just got a new holy grail bound volume in. It is the first Harvey Comics monthly file volume! A little background: while most publishers bound copies of their comics for various purposes, Harvey is the only company I know of that bound copies of their entire monthly (or bi-monthly, depending on the number of comics published) output. They only did this from 1956-1970, then resumed for several months in 1973 before stopping altogether. The copies were bound for the Art, advertising and production departments and for the owners of the company’s personal files, as noted on the side of the books. With no more than a half a dozen of any volume assembled at the time, the later years even less, these file sets are truly rare, made even more so by the fact that many were destroyed by flooding or suffered heavy water damage. The number of surviving copies of any given volume is probably between zero and three on average. What follows is thought to be the nicest surviving copy of the first monthly file set, covering Jan-Feb 1956. Not going to photograph all the issues, just a few of the highlights:

finally got a descent copy. I won a 7.0 a few months ago for a great price. My dog was hit by a car and shattered his leg. 5,000 plus vet bill, had to cancel the transaction (the seller was happy over that, he sold it for much more). Been trying to get one since but the prices were more than I wanted to pay. This one came along, great price. Off to get pressed and graded.
