I had the same experience, the one sales thread I attempted pretty much died the minute I put it up. The one irregular forum member who said they would buy one of my listings actually never responded to my PM. I think the reality is that, since we are members of a slabbing forum, most of us are only interested in buying opportunities well below fair market value, either raw or slabbed. Maybe we will pay FMV for the occasional hard-to-find book or speculation book.

@BrianGreensnips you have to remember that you're advertising to a bunch of collectors. If the books aren't rare or sharp, chances are that folks here already have them or don't want them. And if someone is interested, they have to have not just blown their budget on something else.

Speaking only for myself, you posted a couple books that I wouldn't mind owning, but am not so interested that I want to pay a reasonable price for them (and I've already blown right through my budget for... I think next year, maybe the one after). I imagine that others are in a similar boat.

So this makes me ponder the thought that maybe I should not send anymore in. It actually bums me out to say this though.
What do you guys think? Maybe I am just in a mood.

@BrianGreensnips GoCollect uses actual CGC sales data from multiple sales sources like eBay, HA, ComicLink and Comic Connect so the data is sound.

A GoCollect subscription gives you much better insight as well. I've sold a ton of stuff on here and other platforms using the GoCollect data. Subscription is inexpensive as well. I highly recommend it.

I think people assume if something uses actual sales data it must be correct without determining HOW the information is applied....again be careful of an app that uses.a one time sale in determining trends or true price levels.

Data can be sound while useage is not....some parts of the app are very speculative while others are closer.to.market

This is one of the things I'm really enjoying about selling (SLABBED ONLY) through MCS rather than Ebay. I ship them 12 at a time, they do everything else. With Ebay my workload could be an additional 45 minutes per book between photo, download, listing and shipping. I also save the 3% paypal fee and MCS seems to be able to sell without adding sales tax, most likely because the books are kept in a physical location in Texas.

consigning with MCS is super easy and simple fore sure. I like that they give you the option to list the book at your price, then let it sit for as long as you like, or force the book to auction and sell more quickly depending your wants. It is also nice that when you go to load your books in they show you whats on hand currently and asking prices, vs sales history previously to help determine your pricing. You can then price your books within the context of where they are offered, and also based on their own past sales experiences . It isn't the selective game of what data to use and ignore, nor lets load up a ton of broken sales links for reference type thing.

Down the road six months I plan to start building a catalog of books offered on their site, and as I do so I will likely place them all well over the going price and let the books move into the prices I am looking for, over time. I think its a perfect system for that, and for eventually building a secondary income source

I have trouble trying to buy books here 🤣
I put up a list of 65 books and luckily I found one forum member who had a book.
I'm going to wait till after the holidays to bump my post and will probably offer multiples of overstreet guide for certain books. Maybe I'll get lucky but we'll see 👍

I seem to remember you were looking for some fairly uncommon books. Check out Terry's site here, he has a big inventory, buys and sells globally:

I have the $5.99 a month plan with Gocollect. Like you said it shows all the data of actual sales along with scans or photos of what sold. It also shows the date that they sold along with how many people bid on the books if it were in an auction. @EbaySeller has a point. This is a slabbed book forum and I think a lot of people here are more into the hunt of a raw book that can be purchased inexpensively and will make a good slab candidate.

Speaking for myself, I already own most keys and first appearances. I generally never upgrade, rarely buy a non key book unless I find the cover cool, and I generally only buy raw.
It’s a bit less fun as my pile has grown, I’ll go a month or two without buying anything nowadays, but I stick to the plan.
Selling anything remains painful, however.

How does GoCOllect handle the more obscure non-key books? Is it only for books that have had recent sales? For example, would the have a value for Fish Police #5 or is that when you would fallback to the Overstreet Price Guide?

I've been selling a lot on ebay the past 2 years but their new managed payment bullcrap really turned me off. I just shipped a big box of slabs to ComicConnect and will probably do that in the future from here on out.

@OGJackster not enough sales data to determine FMV. look at the red box.

Agree with @Darkseid_of_town, I'll check MCS buying and selling prices for when I list moderns and the like that aren't on gocollect or dreckcheck.
