Grading Help NeededQuestions

Bent Staples, Thick Books, and Grades1050

Collector AznBane private msg quote post Address this user

Hello everyone. I was wondering if I can get some feedback on how bent staples on thick books could affect the grade of the book. I am looking to purchase this copy of ASM #1 (2014) and when I look at a few books on Ebay I notice that a few have this bent top staple. Is that some sort of printer defect that is acceptable for a 9.6+ book? It's just a bit strange that some have it and some don't. Any information on this would be great especially if a mod can comment on it. Thanks!

For what it's worth, I have a book with a bent staple and it was still a 9.8 from CBCS.

That is definitely good to know. Would you say it is around the same level of bent as the picture shown?

Yeah, it's pretty comparable to that. I can show you a pic when I get off work today if you want.

@AznBane

I hope it shows up for you to compare. The warped staple is the bottom one.
