All, Would like to get your opinions on the best way for me to pare down my collection by selling off bulk loads. I want to sell the majority of my collection and keep keys and sentimental books only. What are the best methods and channels to sell books in bulk? |

Just my opinion, but if you want to sell in bulk, you probably need to do it locally through like Craig's List or FB market place. Or, get a booth at a local con. On Ebay, you're going to have issues as most people aren't looking for lots, but those one or two books to complete a run. I've had luck selling up to maybe 3 or 4 books in a lot, but some of the larger runs I've put up have hardly gotten any interest. Of course, it all depends on what you are trying to sell and your mileage may vary... |

I just went to a con, got rid of 3 long boxes at .25 each. And a bunch of $1, $3, and $5 books. I noticed many dealers do 3 for a dollar. Table cost was too high though for it to make much sense. Large lots on EBay work, especially if your post office allows media mail for comics, my post master does. Many don’t. | ||

Thank you, I will go the local facebook and craigs list route. Most of the book I want to depart with are I believe collectable, so I do not want to depart with them for the dollor bin prices. As far as eBay is concerned, I am one of those who is always on the lookout for specific runs, but...I am also looking for bargains in NM. If you look to sell a run on eBay and expect to get market value it probably will not happen unless there is high demand. I see a lot of larger runs on eBay where a seller will break them up into 5-10 issues and place multiple auctions, I think this is the best route to go. | ||

I had about 1500 books pre-1980, with about 85% pre-1977. This past summer, I pulled what I thought were the best 50 or so out and sold the rest in a one-time, one-hour bulk sale to a store to generate the money for grading. Now, by the time they’re all back from grading next year, I’ll have about 60 high value graded comics as my total collection. Not for everyone, but I’ve been very happy with the change. I’ve been reading everything digitally for nearly 10 years now, so it was the right time for me. |
