Grade range varies, and he definitely commands a premium for some. I guess some Whitmans are less common than others. Not exactly sure how they work out. There are a bunch of pence copies on so many titles. It's not like the 30, 35 cent price variants. Still, a low print run, plus the scant amount of surviving higher grade copies can make them a more a in-demand commodity. We're seeing it with Canadian price variants from the BA now, and high grade Australian price variants of keys can command a premium. If I can find them, I buy them. |

I expect female superheroes (and villains)to continue to take off, as they look so much better in costumes, check out any con for confirmation. So She Hulk 1 will continue to rise, Enchantress, Red Sonja, Power Girl, Shi, Huntress to name a few possibilities |

Atm for me it's marvel bronze 20c picture books in very high grade. These books are now 47 years old. And when I say high grade I mean 9.8s. I've bought a few raws and I'm thinking one or two may reach that with a press. I've never gotten a book pressed and when I see Ironmans in 9.8 fetching 1k plus that's not bad for a run book. Another book that I've bought 2 copies of is uncanny X-men 94. For years this book and giant size were worth the same till the giant size broke away from price and rightly so. And I believe the 94 will never be worth the same as the giant size again. But when collectors get the giant size there is a chance they'll go for the 94. And if prices continue to rise and price X-men fans out of the giant size then the 94 is a book they may settle on. Plus the 94 has 3rd full wolverine and 2nd Colossus and storm ect. And first issue written by Claremont who would go onto writing and making X-men the fan favorite for over 100 issues. I think this book has potential in the long term. My 2c feel free to discuss |

Some Black Widow Speculation on my part... I've slowly been rescuing copies of Secret Empire Omega #1 (2 Covers) and Tales of Suspense #101 (17,000 Print run w/ 2 covers) from the dollar bins as first appearance of the Black Widow Clone. I've also been rescuing Captain America #617/618 from the dollar bins - 1st Wolf Spider Olivier "The Dutch Giant" Richters was cast in the movie and IMDB lists him as "Muscular Gulag Inmate" which points to Wolf Spider being involved since it's the Gulag... Super Speculation? Not really...but an easy way to turn $1 into $20+ when the movie drops if they pan out... |

One area that's taking off is overlooked "hidden meaning" covers. Stuff that nobody would think to even look at when flipping through dealer boxes, then one day somebody points it out and it takes off. Here's an example - Tip Topper #17. Look at the trend chart: nothing, nothing, nothing, then boom and you could have 5-10x'd on it. There are lots of these still sleeping out there. Happy to mention a few more of these if anyone's interested. |

Ok, here's another @doog: Dogface Dooley #5. Pre-2017 (and again, even now very few people are aware), this could be bought dirt cheap. The key - let's just say the artist had other things on his mind when drawing the sputtering puff of smoke coming out of the flamethrower. Sorry about the low-res pic - I never know optimal sizing and got scolded last time I threw a high-res pic on the forums, as you can tell I'm not on here much. |

FWIW I do try to mention these themes as I see them in my market reports, you might want to sift through those. Granted, most of the themes I bring up, people on these boards are already aware of (Baker cover, MLJs, out-of-context monster covers, etc.) but it's nice to see real data-points. Here's one more "hidden meaning" example while I'm typing. Archie titles are riddled with these, and most of these books for years could be found in dollar bins. Still can, but that window is starting to close. |

Apologies of course if you're a huge Herbie fan But the trend chart is dead flat on this book, for way over a decade now. Anyway, one could argue this example is maybe similar to what happened with Incredible Hulk #271 - a lackluster cover with a raccoon thingy that... who could have guessed even after Marvel movie magic was in full swing, they would make into a super-cool part of a super-team with Bradley Cooper doing voice-over?? |

@TommyJasmin Great covers. Looks like some of them were done intentionally and others were not and the editor didn't pick up on it. Like that Alf cover and the action comics cover that looks plain wrong. |

Plus an assortment of other odds and ends, such as Jimmy Olsen and Lois Lane, Wanted, Kamandi, Tarzan, etc. I bought a whole bunch of those super packs a couple years ago. I've sent a few in, and got 9.4's to 9.8's, with a couple surprise 9.0 or 9.2. Most are fantastic. Crisp, clean, bone-white pages, and never been read. I love em! Can't wait to get them graded, see what else shakes out. |

MLJs? Is that for the name Archie Comics had before they became Archie Comics? Or does it mean something else? I don't know if I'm the only one, but I'm totally not getting any innuendo from that Action Comics cover. |

If we're looking for more obscure books, here are a few that I've thought could pop but haven't had great success: Adventure 327: First Timberwolf- DC's very similar precursor to Wolverine. Never well developed. Superboy 98: First Ultraboy...an interesting character never well developed. Marvel Team-up 1: First Misty Knight Marvel Team-up 65: First US Captain Britain, starting to move. Captain Marvel 34: Apparently nobody cares how CM got the cancer that killed him. Swamp Thing 2: First Anton Arcane, still not recognized by Overstreet I believe. TOS 75: First Sharon Carter doesn't seem to impress people much based on the prices. |
