For folks in the NJ/PA area, there's a comics-only convention happening in a couple weeks. Comics top out at 25 cents cover price. http://www.njsilverandgoldenagecomiccon.com/

Yeah, it's going to be about an hour drive for me. Kind of an unusual show though, I'm going mostly just to see some old books I'll hardly ever see in person.

Thats what would make me wanna go to. Also pick up some back issues for just reading and not collecting.

For anyone familiar with the stores in the area, I believe the organizer is the owner of Frankenstein Comics.

@xkonk - I absolutely love smaller conventions/shows just like this! No frills, bells, or whistles, just comics and then more comics. I wish I could attend, and hope you have a great time.

It was a neat show. Just a bunch of guys (besides the couple of ladies who were shopping) with neat books. Still an hour left if anyone is nearby. I walked out with an X-Men 15 to cross off my list.

What, No Cosplay??? No 15 Harley Quinn's? No 5 Winter Soldiers? No 12 versions of Wonder Woman? No Logans or Caps? I'm buying my plane ticket for next year!

Just got an email update that LA Comic-con had 125,000 attendees this year. I grew up in a town of 110,000. So glad I only went on Friday and skipped the weekend of claustrophobia.

I don't have a thing against cosplay. I thought it was neat to have a show focused entirely on older books though.

@xkonk - Give me a smaller venue where the focus is on comics and not all the other stuff. I spent 5 hours at RI Comic Con today and although I brought cash and a couple of nice books to trade, I came home without purchasing a single comic! Although this convention now fills two adjacent arenas, there were really only about a dozen vendors selling comics. So rows and rows of stuff I have no interest in. I looked at two copies of X-Men #1, and both were priced about twice their value. I looked at a raw 7.0 copy of ASM #28, the guy wanted $700 for it! I can buy a graded one online for around $500. Absolutely crazy prices. The only reason to go was to drop off some books at CBCS for grading where I got to talk to Tim B. and Steve P., and meet up with Corey from these forums.

@esaravo Yeah, I'm sure at some shows the cost for vendors to get in the door makes any real buying cost prohibitive. On the other hand, you at least saw those books! I didn't have a lot of options looking for low numbered X-Men, even if I wasn't going to pull the trigger on much. I guess it's a trade between price and availability.
