Signing exterior of slab10314

I have a problem with fattening women up. Bronte private msg quote post Address this user
I really do not like signatures on a cover. Inside would be better. However, I was thinking outside might be cool. My only concern is protecting it from smudging.

Having it signed on the inside would be cool but after watching how to crack open a slab, i know i couldnt do it without damaging the book. (Hands shake too bad.)

I saw a couple of threads on the topic in the CGC forum, however, im curious as to your thoughts...

I don't get it. The sig can never be verified for authentication and can be separated from the thing you want the signature to be affiliated with. If you want sigs but not on merch, get a signature book or folio or something and get them all to sign in there.

I'd like to say I still turned out alright, but that would be a lie. flanders private msg quote post Address this user
Would a second slab have to be placed over the first slab in order to authenticate the signing? Maybe you can invest in a second slab company that also grades the quality of the autograph. I think PSA or Beckett grade the quality of autographs on other memorabilia

Signature would be for personal collection. Never to be sold. Authentication would be irrelevant to me.

I'm just tossing this up in air. This is not something I would definitely do. Just seeking opinions....

For personal collection if you really want a sig go for it. I just think getting someone to sign something that isn't the item they worked on is always odd to me. Unless it's a sig book you're working with. I think about a baseball in a cube...maybe it was someone's 300th career homerun and you get them to sign the case instead of cracking out the ball.

I had no way of knowing that 9.8 graded copies signed by Adam Hughes weren't what you were looking for. drchaos private msg quote post Address this user
Given John Byrne's perspective on graded books, my hat is off to anyone that can get him to sign the exterior of any slab.

This.
Someday this book will be treasured more than my comics.

Saw a Tomb of Dracula 10 up for sale a week or so again that had a couple sigs on the slab. I don’t really see the point and would live in fear of smudges.

Not quite the same. Signing a 300th homerun ball would be more analogous to signing an original piece of comic book art, not one of the thousands and thousands printed.

ABSOLUTELY the most horrible idea EVER! Why would this even be a thought?

I would even opt to have the cover of the book signed before doing this kind of insanity, and most people know how I feel about defacing books with scribbling.
