Mile High's owner Chuck Rozanski has a world class collection of Pueblo pottery. He is in the process of putting all of his pieces in display cases on the second floor of the Mile High store. Here he is showing some of his pieces and the displays that he is doing. Regardless of what you think of him, this is an impressive collection!!! |

Did not watch all of the video but these type collectors can often be bad news depending how they acquire the pieces. If it's all legally acquired and documented it's amazing and yay for him. If has bought from poachers or less accredited sources it can often be destructive to collection sites...museum holdings or ongoing studies. Case in point would be the owners of Michael's hobby store and their acquisitions of artifacts from the middle East and biblical time period Let's hope Chuck has behaved himself |

@Darkseid_of_town From what I have seen and read about the collection, his main focus is on pieces made in the late 1800's to current that are made for tourists. He has some older pieces, but they all appear to be purchased at auction houses, antique stores, etc. Here are some of the more current pieces he has. The artist has passed away, but he loved Star Wars. So he combined Pueblo artistry to the characters in Star Wars and created these. The artist is in the picture frame.![]() ![]() And Chuck has the utmost respect for Pueblo tradition. He has several Pueblo design tattoos on him. The big piece on his back is an Avanyu that is patterned after one he found on a piece of 1930's pottery. He even got permission from the artist (or the family of the artist, I can't remember exactly) to get it tattooed on his back. He even went so far as to get the inks mixed to match the exact colors. I don't think he would willingly buy anything with a dubious background. ![]() |

It all.sounds good. I know I've had to walk a thin line with my dinosaur collection and.declime some fossils due to sketchy Provence. Auction houses also guarantee nothing. I remember Nicholas cage buying a t Rex skull from.mongolia and eventually the seller was convicted and the cranial material returned to it's source. Us collectors always have to be careful. It's good that Chuck appears to be doing so though. Some of those older pieces he has have no open collection sites in the country and would have to be from collections prior to no hunting laws for those areas |
