Was this opened and swapped out?10281

Collector gotham44 private msg quote post Address this user
Just won this on ebay and it looks like it was opened and swapped. Can anyone tell me if this can happen without it being swapped?

Do the cbcs notes match the book cover?

I also see a heat seal on the CBCS logo so it's probably fine.

Unlikely swap on a low value book with witnessed signature.

Looks suspicious. Like someone tried to remove the label, but after it started to tear they stopped and pushed it back.

I would return it.

Even if it is legit, you need to pay reholder fee and shipping both ways.

Plus, unless CBCS is doing PHENOMENAL turn around times, if you find out its swapped, you are out time and money.

That is my opinion though. I could be totally off....

I would say it happened when the inner well was encased in the outer holder.

My first thought was also label shenanigans.

Our turn around times are in fact PHENOMENAL!

Wondering if the "phenomenal" TATs are concurrent with the QC allowing this type of thing to happen--assuming of course that this is a product of such.

from what little i am seeing, that is not likely.

I would lean to mishandling of the case, and possibly dropped as the culprit
The encasing shouldn't do this, I would need to see more pics and get the invoice number to be certain.

I doubt this happened in house, but I guess it's possible.

While I have zero complaints, my reservations are that Ebay disputes may not be able to fall into the time bracket of a CBCS submission.

I certainly meant no disrespect. I just got a shipment from you guys in record time.

this is not how it left CBCS, so i am going to guess this might have been dropped leading to this damage.

The clip damage is a major reason for this. Did the listing state the damages?

Again without seeing it in hand, i cant say for certain.

Is that scratch on the inside of the case???
Post 16 IP   flag post
Collector gotham44 private msg quote post Address this user
@Darryl_H no. Didnt state any damage at all. The logo looks intact but that tear and that warped yellow label could happen from a fall the way it is. Just wondering if I should reholder or return to seller. Doesnt look like a full swap could have been made. Thanks for the help

@Jesse_O yeah. Almost looks like a razor slice but it's a 1/3 of the way across. To hard to swap out a comic. Just wondering if its from a drop that can cause all of this.

I was going to say that it looked jammed, but it doesn't look like the book had moved any in his pictures.

I just noticed the clips were gone, duh. I would return the book to the seller if the clips aren't in the shipping box.

A drop wouldn't cause a scratch on the inside of the case. The only thing that I know that would do that is a metal object inserted between the plastics. The inside scratch and jacked up label would support that in my mind. If there is another way for that to happen, I'd love to hear it.

@Jesse_O If you look at the 1st post pic then you can see that its not really a scratch on the case but a slice through the heat sealed part

That is why the seal line was added through the label, to show signs of damage and possible tampering!

Ok. Well, a drop still wouldn't cause a slice. A bend, crack, chip, jarring, etc, yes. But a slice inside the case?? I just don't see it happening. I can't imagine that someone wouldn't notice that after heatsealing. I mean, this had to be caused by something sharp. I'd think CBCS would be very aware of any sharp implements near their work areas. And with there being clip damage, I'm leaning towards someone tampered with it.
