eBay - options for unpaid item10235

If the viagra is working you should be well over a 9.8. xkonk private msg quote post Address this user
Looking for some advice from eBay sellers. A guy messaged me last week with an offer for a buy it now item and said that if I accepted he would pay on Friday. I sent him a counteroffer and said Friday was fine. He accepted, and now Friday has come and gone. I sent him an invoice on Saturday, partially as a reminder and partially to tell him that I'm going to be out of town and won't be able to mail it if he doesn't pay soon. There's still no payment today.

All that is background to my question of, what are the outcomes from canceling a sale? If I look at my list of sold items, that item has a 'cancel and relist' link right next to it. In the resolution center, I could also start an 'issue' for that item. Are these actually different? Do either I or the buyer get dinged in any way for using one of these? I'm not super upset or anything, so I don't want to get the guy booted off eBay, but I also don't want to put myself in a bad spot somehow.

Don't cancel it. Have eBay step in. Let them try to get in contact with him etc.
Then have them close it so the guy can't give you negative feedback for "cancelling" the sale.

Open unpaid item case. They have 4 days to pay, if they dont pay then you get your fees back and then relist. The buyer gets a strike against their account.

Thanks folks. I'll wait until I'm back in town so he's had plenty of time and then open a case. Don't want him to pay and have me get dinged for slow shipping.

There is somewhere, though I am not sure where, I haven't used it, where you can say "I am on vacation, and will ship when I get back..." That will absolve you ( I would think)of late shipment, should they occur.

@crystalphoto I looked into that as best I could. I think that option is only available to stores, not lowly individual sellers. I did set up an 'on vacation' auto-reply email, however that will work.

@xkonk I looked also, and unfortunately, have come to the conclusion, that it is for stores and not individual sellers... Sorry about that...

Yep, but be ready for the negative feedback.

Ebay will usually open unpaid item case in 3-4 days without you having to do anything.

After that is takes a few days for either the customer to pay or the case is closed by Ebay. The customer receives a strike on their account for non-pay.

You will not be held responsible for anything and can then relist the item.

I have found when Ebay gets involved the parties tend to wait until the very last minute to pay but 90% of the time do pay,

Good luck.
