Rob Liefeld to Sue Marvel?10233

If the viagra is working you should be well over a 9.8. xkonk private msg quote post Address this user
@etapi65 I think others (although maybe that was also you, I don't remember), in other threads, have given credit for Deadpool to Kelly and McGuinness because they created the version of Deadpool that really took off.

The credit part I suppose is debatable, but ownership obviously means a lot to creators. That was the reason behind Image existing, right? I don't fault anyone for being salty over things like that even if we're talking about a derivative character. Lots of characters are derivative.

@xbonk

I think you and I are on the same page. I may not have explained well, and admittedly, was thinking about how they credit people in the movies.

You know how it’ll say Deadpool created by Liefeld, but later on acknowledge other people who contributed to the storyline they use or supporting cast. That’s what I was thinking of in shared credit.

Anyway, good derailment in my view!

Those are without a doubt the best things I think I have ever seen from him.

And in breaking news, Rob Liefield has sued himself . Apparently he is offended by the amount of credit for his creations his inner self takes, without credit to his creative being. As long as the conflict rages, Liefeld has stated flatly he wont be signing anything except other artists work he has copied from. The suit is seeking millions in lost and punitive damages, for how much trauma and glory and fame his inner self has cost his artistic self. Expect news any moment he will also be revealing a new character, Minor X, who will first appear only on random rolls of toilet paper Liefield himself chooses to use.

What creations? Rob Liefled takes existing characters change their costume's color scheme and their names (sometimes ever not even that) and wa LA a "new character"

Are you sure that Rob Liefled didn't just trace over a Michael Turner piece and pass it off as his??

@Jessie_O Rob did 2-3 Issues of Teen Titans back in 2004-ish. It definitely had Starfire. Just FYI, in case you're interested.

I'll try to find them, and I'll share some pictures.

Has Liefeld ever apologized for this?

My guess is that the artwork above was a very bad swipe of this cover:

That can't be Liefeld's work. None of the characters have headgear that was stolen from a boxing gym, or bandoliers strapped to their legs, or crazy harnesses...

So Liefeld invented the first transgender comic character too? Amazing!
He even left the manly shoulders, Adam's apple, and a shaved, lonely man-ball.

Yup, whatever's between the legs there reminds me of the creeps who like to go to the park and stretch in little nylon 80's gym shorts.

To me RL is just a symbol of the era when I stopped buying new comics and everyone younger than me started buying them.

@Towmater to the rescue. Thanks!

But, damn if that art doesn’t make me cringe. I must have been looking through the past with some serious rose-tinted glasses!

Ones youth and what we remember is wonderful.

Liefeld has stopped drawing for Marvel per his announcement on the 15th.

Aweful... look at that thumb. I don't think the right hand is a hand, it's just a thumb... and that gun.... no depth.... looks like he's holding up a cell phone...

It's worth clicking on that link to read the comments to his tweet. Just.wow...
The fawning over this guy is too much! I'd like to think that it was mostly sarcastic, but deep down i know it's not.
My favorite was the guy asking about the muzzle flash because it was so realistic it must have been added by computer software. Smh

I somewhat wonder watching Liefield operate, if his method of simmering controversy and tossing things into the fire is a method of generating discussion and attempting to remain relevant in a new generation with new artists, new ideals and a different method of doing things than when he was the boy king of characters without feet, overloaded with pouches, and with that one robotic attachment or eye...
I did check the new comics I buy ...apparently his art doesn't surface in the titles I choose to avail myself of. oh well...I will manage to come to terms with that loss

At the 8:22 mark Stan says they both need to sign it and they are going to donate it to a charity auction. I'd like to know where that piece ended up. It got turned into a poster.

and then? OvertKill

Looks like Todd added pouches. Weird that Rob left them off on the original drawing.

might just be me, but something I noticed...Stan lee says we have just a few minutes left, lets tighten up the feet...Todd goes down, finishes the foot on his side, and ….Liefield ignores it all and draws bullet holes ….

Omg... Haha! Stan tells Rob to shut up & let the adults talk... (not in those exact words, but more or less). Even way back then they were arguing about rights to characters... Great video.

Since this is the most recent Liefield bashing thread, Ryan Reynolds posted about the Joke movie today on Instragram. Liefield chimed in his two cents in the comments and along with the "You're the greatest" comments were people giving him hell about not really developing the character that actually showed up on the screen and calling him out for not being able to draw feet. It's pretty funny if you have an Insta account.

I went and looked at the comments. Hilarious. I do not understand why someone like him wastes his time to bicker in the comments. Looks bad. He owes alot of Deadpool's success to Joe Kelly IMO.
