PS before the hating begins, those are just my feelings...I get that a lot of people love the character and those books..I am just speaking from my own perspective so no offense.I have also dumped three copies in a row of ASM 129 and choose not to have one. Each time I wound up buying another and then asking myself....why this book...dont like the character, or story. |

I guess my grails list would be along the lines of... older books signed by Kirby x-men 4 Avengers 4....never owned one which shocks me. wonder woman issues by Hummel Golden age green lantern 1 JIM 102? because first Hela.... Also there are some books I buy extras of on sight...x-men 50, howard the Duck 11, and 12, New gods 7 , and the Aparo spectre adventure books, as well as Adventure issues with Black orchid because everyone should speculate on a few things that have gone precisely nowhere and may never either! |

@Darkseid_of_town People's tastes vary to a point. I think the sheep mentality kicks in and causes a lot of folks opinion's to change. For example, who can honestly say they liked or even knew of the guardian of the galaxy characters before MCU? It took the Netflix punisher to generate interest in Spider-man 129 again. (Back in the 90s it was the book to have along with spiderman 14.) Granted most everyone liked wolverine. Yes. They are severely overpriced, but so be it since I have 4 copies. (I dont collect out of morality principles) Of course, this was only my experience while collecting, ymmv |

I owned a copy of Hulk 271 and when they announced they were using rocket I was so sure that would be idiotic that I sold my own copy and cashed in. Movie comes out and voila...I loved the character and wound up spending nearly a hundred dollars replacing the comic.I never saw it coming, an assistant editors month talking space racoon goes on to become a hit character...…. I am surprised anyone bought anything due to the punisher series, I felt the first season was horrible. It wasn't a very true to comics portrayal of the character as we have seen Frank Castle. I watched season two and felt it was amazing, and that they had finally found their footing and were doing something truer to the character. Season one to me dragged on and on but I wish season two had run another 20 episodes. |

1. Transformers #1 Marvel UK ![]() 2. Transformers More than Meets the Eye #43 Texas Comicon variant. Normally I laugh at variants, but the completist in me needs it. The book never made it to the show according to vendors who were there. But I saw a sold listing for a signed copy a couple years ago. ![]() |

I seriously doubt that I will ever get my true grails, but here they are: Avengers #4 Hulk #180 and #181 Strange Tales #110 For those three, I have settled on Captain America #100, Wolverine #1 and Dr. Strange #169. I have all three in CBCS cases. They were among my first submissions. I'd also like to get, but probably can't afford, Conan the Barbarian #1. The more realistic first appearances that I'd like to get are: Werewolf by Night #1 Tomb of Dracula #1 DC Comics Presents #26 Monster of Frankenstein #1 The Creature #1 (Dell) GI Combat #114 (First Haunted Tank) Our Army at War #168 (First Unknown Soldier) I don't really like calling anything that I can conceivably buy a grail, so the first 4 are actually grails. But, I hate talking about unrealistic goals, so I had to throw in the ones I can get. It's just me. I always try to be positive. You kind of have to be to be a Vikings fan. LOL!! |

My top two are still Little Dot #1 and Dell Looney Tunes #1. High on the list are St John’s Casper #s 4 and 5, which are nearly impossible to find in grade. Also still working on completing Leading Comics 1-14 featuring the Seven Soldiers of Victory in grade. And to round out my grail list, I would love to own all the Adventure Comics Sandman covers by Flessel, where Sandy sported that crazy business suit and gas mask costume and the issues of More Fun that feature Dr. Fate in the full face helmet, before he switched to the much less cool half helmet.

Poka couldn't you just buy all the books you might want today and when they increase in price tomorrow you are set?![]() Despite what a few gloom and doom trolls have said, comics from the golden and silver ages just keep moving up and gaining in market value !!! |

I made it through a few episodes on Netflix. On the other hand I find Sabretooth and Bullseye to be more interesting characters with 1st appearances under-valued relative to others, but they are not too likely to ever get their own series in comics or on T.V. I thought the Bullseye portrayal was the most interesting part of the Daredevil movie. |

Another thing I don't understand is ASM 252, Secret Wars 8 and Spawn 1. All are over 25 years old and they are constantly on the top 20 most actively purchased list. Why do so many copies continue to be bought and sold each week? Why does the value seem to almost never change? They trade like a commodity rather than a collectible comic book. The supply and demand seem to remain constant year after year.

Realistically attainable, or regardless of whether or not I need to win the lottery? I ask because I will likely never own a Superman #1 or Batman #1. A nice, crisp, Spawn #1 CGC 10/Gem Mint is at the top of my list (if one ever goes up for sale). A high-grade Iron Man #1 is up there. Captain America #100. Thor #126. Incredible Hulk #1. Eerie (1947). |
