I currently use MCS and Midtown comics, I stay away from Mile High due to ridiculous prices. Are there other good options with lots of variety for back issues?

Mile High is only slightly reasonable if you get one of those 60% off codewords. The selection is unreal if just looking for back issues. As far as others go, I like MCS. Newkadia is ok. Good experiences for me, others may disagree. Doug Sulipa's Comic World if you can navigate the site. Graham Crackers has been good to me. Bob Storms tends to get good stuff in also. Kinda depends what you are looking for.

@Siggy Well, on my time and budget...that is what I need to use! LOL. I do my advertising at local shows like the one coming up in Conway, AR in Nov. People also use Comicbook Realm to contact me, also...but totally understand the "FB" part!

As others have said, it all depends on what you're buying. I rarely buy new comics from an online retailer - only if they have an exclusive variant I happen to want. For back issues, I like NewKadia the most. I use Mile High rarely - only when they have a 60% off sale and I have a list of inexpensive comics I need. Personally never ever use MCS for anything. |

I've used Discount Comic Book Service and Unknown Comic Books with no issues but I've only ordered from each of these companies once. The other company I've used is G-mart because I was looking for some back issues I wanted and sometimes they have them in stock for cover price. They have awful packaging though. The only time I've ordered from them the package and comics were damaged on the corner. They resent the comics at no charge ($102 worth) and didn't ask for the damaged ones back. They weren't damaged the second time, only by chance, as my request to package them more carefully was ignored and they sent the same flimsy packaging. The box is barely big enough to fit the comics, there's no insulation on the sides. I contemplated using the same box to reship comics I recently sold and realized the box wasn't wide enough to fit a standard gemini mailer, let alone additional insulation. |

MCS is okay if you're buying, but they will undergrade you if you are selling. Back in October 2008 I did a walk-in at their warehouse in Arlington TX with a short box full of SA Spideys I needed to sell (needed cash). In the box I also had a raw ASM 300 solid 8.0. Well, the douche who went through my box said the 300 was probably a VG and offered me $50 for the entire box. I laughed in his face, put the lid back on the box and walked out. Then he says, "Hey wait, let me go talk to my boss" (Buddy Saunders I assume), afterwards I was cut an acceptable check. Yeah, grading is subjective. But the difference between an 8.0 and a 5.0 is a no-f*cking brainer. This idiot was programmed to take advantage of desperation, but it didn't work. |

@Pre_Coder I haven't sold any but isn't that typical? I think my LCS buys long boxes for like $25. That just sounds like a rip off considering that's what it costs for 5 new books.

Years ago I would sell to MCS for credit to use on their site. The buying price was great but I think the grading got tighter based on what you sent them. If it was 2-3 copies of a less liquid book they would never grade it higher than like 8.0. But I do believe they sold at those same grades. After reading this thread I went back to MCS for the first time in years and I was reminded how good their site is for buying. I bought 6 books. Last night I checked out Mile High Comics. Got a 50% off code right away! Even with the code the prices were silly and the site was irritating. I bought nothing and got off the site in 10 minutes. |
