@Enelson picked up the books yesterday and I haven't read them yet. Just a quick flip thru and I saw that ad and had to share.

@southerncross - Wow, those Charlton romance comics look in amazing shape! Most romance comics (and most Charltons too, for that matter) are usually pretty beat up. Do you actively purchase romance comics for your collection?

@esaravo yep. I was accidentally exposed to romance books over a year ago when I picked up this fox giant.

Books that were not sold went back to fox and they rebound the books into this square giant. I'm a big fan of 40s-50s crime. The book had a bunch of crime and a bunch of romance. The romance stories were corny and funny and the help section on the letters page were just laughable.
And that's how it started.
Charm of the Charltons are they were printed under the same roof. And they were so tight they would use the end of the paper rolls and some pages have a jagged edge. I think as long as a cover was on with a legible price on the cover that's all that matters.
Now these Charltons I bought off a dealer close to me had a romance section. Well he did have a romance section 🤪
These books were cheap. Apart from the two issue ones that cost me $30 and $25 respectively. The rest ranged from $5 to $15 with the average $7-$8. And then I got a 20% discount without asking for one. 😀
I don't hunt these down on the net it's more of a case I don't see any super hero books I want in a store so I'll check out their romance section for funny cool cheap books.

Got this at Salt Lake Fanx from Tyler.

Got a couple sketches from Bill Galvan again but going to wait till they get back from grading to post them.

Here you can see from this Charlton book the jagged edge from the end of the paper roll during printing. Just love the charm of the low production value they had with printing.

@southerncross - Who can forget the jagged edges of a Charlton comic? It just screams high quality! But if you can't get enough of them locally, or if you have a want list of Romance and/or Charltons (or even Crime - I have a couple from the 1950s), please let me know.
