| Pluses: Not as poorly redesigned as the controversial, almost universally disliked "new" CGC label (low hanging fruit). Foil shield gives the design more gravitas without being overpowering. The redesign avoids making the grade into a blinding neon beacon (more low hanging fruit). Minuses: Design is not as functionally attractive as one would hope to warrant such a change. Various colors & design provide more confusion, not less. Top and edge color strip is aesthetically unappealing; width makes modern books look smaller in holder and draws too much attention to the label. Loss of simplicity and consistency. What should've been done: A thorough vetting process should've been conducted with suggestions being taken for at least six months before moving forward. Barring changes in the holder design that would prevent the use of the older existing label, options should be afforded to customers who prefer the previous label. These are just my opinions and only intended as constructive observations. Obviously, these views won't be shared by everyone. I'm not trying to start an argument or be unfairly judgmental of efforts made to improve products. My biggest concerns about the new label are how holdered books look in my own collection next to other holdered books. That is a vanity that's important to me but may not be shared by others, much less those displaying books for sale. I'll say the same thing here that I said about changing label designs on the other boards: it isn't about the label, it's about the book. A label should compliment the book in the holder without distracting from it and never create confusion. (2 cents) |

| I just watched the video for the new design and I think it looks pretty clean. I am not sure if I like the hologram as much though. Reminds me of Upper Deck cards from the 90's. I was not a fan of the original logo either. It had an uptight feel to it. Still 50/50 at this point. | ||
