This thread will address changes, good or bad, resulting from the Beckett acquisition. We learned a lot from the live chat. So far: * Steve Borock is still President and the primary grader * Turn Around Times should improve * Raw grading will still be available * There are no immediate intentions to create satellite offices. Business will be conducted, as usual, from Florida. * Grader's notes will still be included. * Signature Authentication should remain with CSA Changes will include: * Integration with Beckett IT department * Census (population report) * Slabs MAY be co-branded with Beckett * Improved holders (slabs), including possibly magazines Feel free to add any pertinent information, or correct anything |

Like to add: * No foreseeable changes to witnessing signatures programs. * CBCS is well aware of the pressing TATs. CBCS hired several additional pressers' but had to let them go due to them NOT meeting CBCS pressing standards. * CBCS had to fire their IT guy, Hence why the website and all info is out of date. Beckett will most likely use their IT department to bring CBCS website up to date ** I think it is very important to note that while CBCS was closed down after the hurricanes, Mr. Borrock said that he continued to grade comics, (on his own time i.e. Saturday) and his wife helped out also by data entry. I think this speaks volumes to how important CBCS is to the Borrocks. Much respect to them both. |

Outsourcing web developers, as opposed to having someone on staff do it, gets expensive very quickly. SQL and database development for the web is not that difficult, but you have companies that charge seriously ridiculous amounts of money.

Steve Borock's history with the hobby was interesting and his enthusiasm for the hobby was infectious. Really awesome podcast episode.

Couple of points I want to put out there. * CBCS started out with 6 total employees in July, 2014. They now have 33 employees. * CBCS is ALWAYS looking for more qualified graders. I point this out because people often say "hire more graders". Guess what ... they HAVE hired more graders!! And they are still looking for more. And don't expect them to move closer to you so you can work there!! If you are seriously interested in being a grader, contact them!! I hear Florida is nice this time of year, now that the hurricanes are over. |

@dpiercy I agree, I was really worried heading into the podcast but after hearing Mr. Borrock speak I am that much more confident and encouraged. Great questions great answers!

One more thing that I thought was really cool. Mr. Borrock spoke about how he moved his entire Original Art collection into the CBCS vault to protect it from the Hurricane. I don't think we need to worry about our books being at CBCS.

Possible co-branded slabs? I'm not sure how I feel about this. I know I'm in the minority, but give me back the rivets! |

@OrbitCityComics Mr Borrock said IF it does happen, most likely it will be a Beckett insignia, or something similar on the back of the label. There is no plan for the core label to change
