CBCS Only Slabs You Just Got Back #217617

Collector mbarb private msg quote post Address this user
Mix of Bronze, Copper, and Modern Age comics that I just received back from CBCS last Saturday. This completes the slabbing of my Wolverine Limited Series copies from 1982 (I previously posted two copies of issue #1). I have also added another Dave Stevens favorite to my collection: Jonny Quest #5. Front and back covers of Just Imagine Stan Lee's Wonder Woman, from 2001, are included to showcase their verified signatures (Jim Lee and Adam Hughes). Happy with most of the grades.

These cases and labels are really nice. I was meh, on the whole thing but Ive been proven wrong.

I really made a bone head decision on this one. I knew it could use another press but I ran out of time. Im sure I cost myself a 9.0.

Check out the label on Swampy #5, it's awesome....

I got this 30 years ago. Matt Groening and the Bongo crew were signing, and even though it was only supposed to be like a 1-hour signing, they made sure that everyone in line got taken care of. It’s crazy that this was so long ago that the Simpsons were only celebrating their 5th anniversary

I'd like to say I still turned out alright, but that would be a lie. flanders private msg quote post Address this user
@MisterMR that's awesome. Is that what Duffman was supposed to look like?

I just got these back on Saturday although they had been sitting at CBCS waiting to be picked up for a month or so.

The Shocking Mystery Cases #56 is a double cover (and what a cover it is!!).

The two Four Color #1173 books are pence copies of the very first Twilight Zone book. These appear to be 2 of the only 3 that have ever been graded by either CGC or CBCS. I'm really happy to have these.

As for the 70s horror, these were all bought 30+ years ago. I have to say that, even though I never graded these myself (I just bought them because they looked cool, read them and put them away), I was surprised with some of the low grades received. I'm not saying that they were overgraded. However, I do need to look at the grader's notes and see how some of the lower grades were determined. Even those with lower grades present well, though.

WonderCon books arrived!

I really like the Rogue commission but I was a bit bummed because I saw the artist at artist’s alley and I really wanted her to do a Silk Spectre on a yellow Doomsday Clock or Rorschach blank but I had left the book at home thinking I wouldn’t need it

My girlfriend’s family joined us for one day at WonderCon. Her father had written the Star Trek comic and happened to find a copy at one of the vendors and gave it to me as a gift. Since CBCS was there, I thought, why not have him sign it? Apparently this was one of the last Star Trek books DC printed with the license so the print run was rather low
