If the viagra is working you should be well over a 9.8. xkonk private msg quote post Address this user
If it was the manufacturer it should be no effect to grade. If someone else added staples it would obviously hurt things. I also had a comic where someone had removed extra manufacturing staples; that caused a hit to the grade.

@Cohnman - Double staples from the manufacturer are not rare and should not cause a grade hit. Usually it occurred when the stapling machine ran out of covers, so the coverless (but stapled) comic had to have the cover stapled on (so 4 staples total).

Here’s my X-Men #29, for example. It looks normal from the outside, but looking at the first page and centerfold you can see the second set of staples.

It's still a defect.

Extra staple from the manufacturer doesn't affect the grade. If they're removed it would.

So is a double cover. Some defects do not detract from and may even enhance collector value. Double staples in particular does not move me either way, unless they are so badly placed that they create problems opening the book all the way.

I consider it a manufacturer’s unplanned variant, just like double or multiple covers. As such, if they are present they are noted on the label of the slab.
