I am looking for the super mario/gameboy etc comics...they do not need to be high grade...mostly because my kids want to read them. If someone has one slabbed i might be interested in that as a decoration for a room. Id even take one of the trades. If anyone has them, lmk. Thanks

When everyone else was trying to buy pre-unity, I was trying to fill in these. I'm still looking for some of the $1.50 issues. Your best bet is to locate the ones with $1.95 cover price. They made more and should be cheaper/easier to get. They have thicker stock paper on the covers. I have some hardcovers for my collection, but nothing for sale.

I have some of the original ones I purchased at the time.

Prices are getting pretty stiff on many of them and I have recently sold a few off, Including a beautiful Legend of Zelda #1, which I sold Raw on Ebay for $150! Who would have thought? I have also sold some of the Higher grade(9.0 -9.2) Super Mario Bros in the $25-$50 range.

I do have other nice ones, but I can't really help ya with any low grade reader copies

The Gameboy #1 is the lowest grade I have. Likely in the 8.0 - 8.5 range. MCS has some lower grade Gameboys in stock that might be in your price range.

I had some a few years ago that I picked up at a flea market and my older boys read them into oblivion- now I'm trying to track them down for my 7 year old. I didn't realize they were so pricey. I wish they could get an updated trade out. I am looking for any grade-just as long as it comes with a cover- I don't even care if its attached.

Here's a magazine width/height TPB with no bids and a low starting price.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Nintendo-Comics-System-No-1-Mario-Zelda-Captain-N-Trade-TPB-Valiant/283543178081

You could try your luck.

In case you don't know, the $1.50 cover price issues are reprint of the stories in the $1.95 issues. They had lower print runs, so I rarely ever see them at shows. The TPB's and Hardcovers also reprint the stories in the $1.95 priced comics.

I would check the Valiantfan.com forum

That's where all the die hard Valiant fans congregate.

MCS only has some Graded ones listed

9.0 ($75)
8.5 ($70)
8.0 ($49) ($64)

Yea the last Raw one I sold for $20 was probably a Steal for the buyer. I have three more including the one I pictured. They were all like new with a light vertical subscription on the right side. I one I sold I listed as a 9.0 - 9.2 because of the Sub crease. I have to believe they would pull that grade range should I choose to submit them for grading.

I might put another one up for $49-50

The Super Mario Bros #2 I showed I believe is a solid 9.4 or better. MCS has a 9.6 listed for $300

Did you get it for $8.27, or did you let someone else win? For you purposes, that'd probably be a decent price. It had some condition issues. The price sticker on it was just shy of $20. Someone thought it was worth more. I don't think so.

If you'd bid, it probably would have bumped up to $15 or $20. That would not have been a good deal.

The $1.95 issues were overproduced.

I bought some hardcovers at a toy store when they were flushing them out in about 1992.

Bob Layton told me that his first work at Valiant was the cover to Captain N #1. I had him sign a copy.

I have the preview flyer that came out before their first comic.

I have both of these:

None of mine are for sale. I'm still trying to get a full set.

Great looking set of books. I grew up on Nintendo. Captain N wasn't the best cartoon though. Come to think of it I wasn't fond of any of their cartoons. It was all about the video games for me.

I think I bought that slab when I was buying up early issues of Nintendo Power.

That's the main appeal. The Nintendo comics are very well done. Some great veteran talent went into them. I think Joe Quesada's first professional work is on those.
