just watched the movie. i was actually pleasantly surprised. it is a dark movie.

No jokes (except one early on from Raven which relates to the title x-men) , no GOTG music etc. no happy ending (well sort of).

only joke is that captain marvel’s powers look like kinder-garden level 1 compared to jean grey.

4 out of 5 from me. now i look forward to the next generation of x-men

If the viagra is working you should be well over a 9.8. xkonk private msg quote post Address this user
Yeah, I didn't think it was that bad. If the tomatometer for Apocalypse is 47% and Last Stand is 57%, Dark Phoenix should be way higher than 22%. I'm still holding out hope for whenever they let New Mutants come out.

I also didn't think it was that bad.

Was it perfect? It sure wasn't, but it SURE was better than Apocalypse and Last Unwatchable Stand.

I remember the "critics" didn't like The Abyss waaay back when. I'm glad I ignored them and saw it the day it came out.

Not saying that will be the case here, but I'll make up my own mind.

I get that Magneto’s important to the mythos but the X-Men world is a lot wider than the movies really explored because they insist on keeping magneto around. They should’ve given him a rest and let another villain really occupy a film, like Mister Sinister that they’ve hinted at for years but never did anything with.
This!

Couldn't we just have a movie with January Jones as white queen and forget the rest of the muddled mess?

The original X-Men series was released bi-monthly. Magneto was the key villain for over a year. On one of the letter pages after that first year of publishing, a fan wrote that they were tired of Magneto. Marvel's answer to get rid of Magneto was to create the Stranger. In issue #11, the Stranger takes Magneto off to another planet. He was back by issue #18.

Good! Spoilers usually don't bother me, but I know they upset a lot of people.

If you like x-men watch it - cause it will be more than a while before the next.

@poka Yeah, even reactions could help me figure it out! Ok, good to know. I will see it. Next stop MCU? Avengers vs Xmen?

The reviews - by critics and friends - will have me catching this one on video.

Pity. It's one of the great story arcs in comics. But Hollywood seems to have trouble bringing it to the big screen. Reminds me of the Punisher. How many awful movies did we have to suffer through before Netflix gave us the character and story we wanted?

And maybe that's the issue. Maybe the story of Jean Gray and the Phoenix doesn't lend itself to a two hour movie - no more than the Punisher did. Maybe it needs 4-5x that time to get us to the point that we care about the character and what is happening to her and her friends.

It's like the dc/ wb with doomsday .. or marvel with first crack at venom in spider-man 3 .

Try and cram too much into just one movie so story and characters have no way of building on the audience .

( i just started re reading my doomsday tpb over the weekend .. if that was done right on big screen it would be a thrill to watch ... should have been brought in once justice league characters were established , not as second supes movie )
