I'd like to say I still turned out alright, but that would be a lie. flanders private msg quote post Address this user
Has anyone had a positive experience selling raw comics to mycomicshop.com based on their wantlist. I'm thinking about submitting several comics to them since it's far less time consuming than having to list and sell the comics myself.

@Gray8200 Mostly 90s crap, which is when I first started collecting. I spent hours looking through my comics that I'm willing to sell. Here's some photos. Grades aren't completely accurate but it shows the price they offer in cash on the right. The amount to the left is store credit. I'm assuming I'll get slightly less than this since apparently they grade very strictly and I have very limited knowledge on grading.

I'll be alseep for the next 12 hours, hopefully I'll wake up to some good feedback about selling to them.

If you have time Transformers and Spawn are in at the moment, you will get more on Ebay, mycomicshop is just a lot easier, they do all the work, because of that you have to accept less

Youโ€™d still be better off demoing everything for cash on Craigslist, Letgo, etc

I've had good experiences selling to MCS. I get the store credit because I'm always looking for books. Looking at your list, I would bundle a lot of those books in lots of ten and put them in the weekly auction. I think you would do better money wise. Especially those Transformer books.

I had no way of knowing that 9.8 graded copies signed by Adam Hughes weren't what you were looking for. drchaos private msg quote post Address this user
You could always try selling books on this forum.

No fees here.

I would start here too then compare the MCS/eBay options.

I have been dealing with MCS for a long time, although more buying than selling. I have sold them a couple of slabs a year or two back for very fair prices (about the same that I could have cleared on EBay without any of the hassle. When selling them raw copies, I might be concerned about their grading, as they tend to undergrade. Some of the people who have responded so far make good points that you may be able to get a little more out of them by piecing them out and selling them yourself, but in the other column, selling to MCS involves much less hassle. You donโ€™t have to deal with multiple trips to the post office, lost or damaged packages, the potential for returns, or any of the other headaches that go along with selling them yourself. Whatever you decide to do, I wish you good luck in your endeavor.

It all comes down to how much you value your own time.
I'm still trying to figure out what to do with my multiples file.
I don't have the free time I used to, so the MCS route is looking better and better.

100% accurate...what's the value of your time and burden? if you, as a seller, take on the task and burden of selling, you get a higher return. If you want to pass that on to someone else, it comes at a cost, less task and burden and lower return for you.

I've sold to MCS a few times. As others say, they do tend to undergrade/grade conservatively (or at least, they don't seem inclined to overgrade at all). Also, since they're buying your books to turn around and sell them, you aren't going to get market value.

The pros: it's super easy. If they want to buy your book you just box it up, ship it, and wait for a check to come back.

The cons: you aren't going to get as much as you might if you sold here, eBay, etc.

The rebuttal to the cons: you have to take pictures, make posts, etc, to sell pretty much anywhere else. You also don't know that anyone will actually buy what you're selling. Any auction site, like eBay, is going to take their fees so you aren't getting 100% of market anyway.

I sold to MCS once, they definitely undergrade what you sell to them...if it is NM you will get a VF price most likely, unless it is slabbed. I would sell on eBay.

It's for this reason buying from MCS is a safe bet....definitly under grade their books.

Again, Iโ€™ve done well selling on Craigslist etc. I meet people at the local PD, and the buyer gets to see the books in person and decide if he likes them. Cash transaction. No returns. No squabbling over grades. No shipping or worrying about books being damaged in transit.

I sold Buddy some slabbed books at a recent con. His first offer was fair, about what I expected. Their grading on raw books is very tough.

They definitely and consistently under grade their consignment books. They definitely under grade what they are buying off their want lists. I don't believe that you can say the same thing about the books they own. I'm not saying they are sloppy, loose, lenient or over grade the stuff they own. But they are not so crazy strict either.

So the "Safe bet" buying from MCS are the books that say "this is a consignment item" Where you pay a 3% fee. IMHO

Thanks for all the feedback. I've decided to adjust my list to sell to them. I'm still selling comics to them that I graded at VF or below and sending about 20 slabs to consign. I can't beat their commission rate of 8-10% by selling through Ebay (or any service similar to mycomicshop), especially since this will allow me to reach an international market that I don't want to take the risk of selling to myself. They're also buying a bunch of crap that I could never sell anywhere else, like Beavis and Butthead #17 (definitely not giving up B & B 1), Vamplets 4 (I did not purchase this, don't judge, it came in a mystery box) and Jurassic Park 2.

Without taking the time to really look (will have to later), is it fair to say MCS is actually offering $2-5 cash for mid-grade X-Men issues 200-300, not counting keys? Maybe it's time to unload all those multiples I purchased from a guy in 2009 who was just trying to get rid of them, we're talking like 30 cents/copy at the time. Again, no keys and most were in 7.5-9.0 condition. Always just assumed they'd end up bird-cage litter...

Eh. They aren't buying most of them right now. For the ones they are buying some are certainly in that range but 249 is 3 cents, for example. That's for 8.0s.
