CGC grading scale was not as descriptive as CBCS...

NM+ 9.6 A very well-preserved collectible with several minor manufacturing or handling defects.

If that book was pressed it would get a 9.8.

probably, remember even without that crease it got a 9.6 so there are other issues with it, I don't remember off the top of my head but they seemed minor.

I never saw $25, but I printed out $10 coupon and used that along with points and membership renewal and got a mostly free order...its not a lot, but I figure it was better than a kick in the nuts

Ya that was something different. Seemed both landed around the same time for people. The $25 was an actual survey had to do.

I never received the survey (I have always made several submissions each year), but I used the $10 coupon with two separate five book orders that I submitted this week. I also used my ecoupons with those orders so I wouldn’t lose them when I am up for renewal.

Really though. The more I think about this, the more it blows my mind.

- First, they should know what’s wrong, but they have to ask WHY.

- Then, they don’t come through on the promise of a coupon in 10 days.

All they have to do now is look at what they just did. The coupon $$ is not important. It’s the empty promise.

If there really is someone who is sifting through all those surveys to find out what’s wrong, that someone should go home and throw themselves down the stairs for not seeing that this is what everyone sees; a group of the best graders around sinking on a ship of empty promises.

The marketing department at CBCS or whoever is running this survey is amazing.

They solicit feedback from what is assumed to be lost former customers to better understand why they haven't used their services of late. So they get this group thinking about why they left which almost certainly falls in one if not all of long turnaround times, poor communication and false promises.

The hook is that by taking the survey you get a $25 voucher to supposedly "come back" and "see what has changed". So what do they do? They don't follow through on the promise of sending a voucher within 10 days of taking the survey and in doing so reinforce why all of these survey respondents left in the first place!

Mind boggling, especially when you could have provided the voucher immediately upon completion.

This should be used as a case study in some marketing text book as there is a lot to be learned as to what not to do here.

...and as an added insult, recently I have tried to trade and/or sell some cbcs books and had people want a "discount" because its cbcs. I dont know if anyone else has encountered this, but it just goes to show you what Tony Montanna always said



...and right now it seems like cbcs not keeping up with either. And I'm really not a hater. I am still only submitting to cbcs because i like the holder better...but...

Glad I'm not the only one who took the survey expecting a $25 voucher and not receiving one.

I sent an email advising I hadn't received my voucher (after waiting beyond 10 days) and the email response was:

All of the vouchers for customers that completed the survey should have been sent out already. We'd advise checking your spam/junk folders.
If you have any other questions, please let us know


I have no other questions other than where is my voucher?
Almost sounds like, "thanks for playing, have a nice day."

I called the cbcs team, got right through to Brian, he took my name and number and said he would look into it.

@Enelson yes it happens ppl wants a cbcs discount. i don’t give one. i had one as late as yesterday. problem is that my book the potential buyer was interested in is the only 9.8 on ebay cbcs or CGC so i have all the negotiation power.

issue would partly disappear if cbcs ever creates a registry allowing both cgc and cbcs

@poka What is tragic about these company mishaps is I truly believe CBCS has a superior product, and I believe the grades I receive are legitimate. I am still fairly new with subbing comics(I just finally filled a second box) but I have purchased a cgc slab with the "rings" and also have a cgc book that sure doesn't look 9.8. I haven't encountered that problem with CBCS, my only gripe is some of the 9.6s I have gotten, but I know they are legitimate tough grades, so I'll take it.
