hahahaha! strangely, I told her I made a big purchase and she said 'how much?"...I hinted at about 90% cost to feel her out and she said "I'm happy for you...enjoy it" . Now I know she's my one true love

I was just up from excitement ..kept remembering it's going in mail today

@Watcher - I could FEEL your excitement when we talked yesterday. That's what's great about a hobby/obsession that you are passionate about. Even if it's only for a few minutes or a few days, isn't it great to be excited about something and feel like a kid again!

PS - I was so psyched about your purchase, I had to buy myself a comic last night. Just an ASM #122, no biggie, but I somehow never owned one.

Man, I’ve been looking at 2.0 TOS 39’s. A 5.0 would be killer.

It’s gonna be that or a mid-grade Hulk 181. Having a tough time deciding.

@00slim personal opinion, TOS. Hulk 181’s although a great book to have, can be found in abundance. I also believe the price on those will begin to fall back to reality in a year or two. IMO hulk 181 right now is a sellers market, not a buyers.

Yeah, Silver Age is my preference.

And while 181 prices may settle, people paying a premium now probably won’t be willing to take a loss, so, I think 181 will never get back to where it was a year or two ago.

I have a few things that are taking priority at the moment, but one of the two (if not both) will find their way into my collection this year.

I was in the same boat honestly...then I decided color touch is over rated and no one is going to give a damn in 10 yrs (just like tape and pressing)so I was going to grab a 6.0 w ct and sit on it. But I just got my tax return and although it was for bills, I couldn't pass up white pages. so, yes, I over extended (again), but if I wait until my debt is paid off I'll be 70 and that book will be 20k so I took a chance.

181 scares me...I won't sell mine because I'll kick myself, but I dont know how it's done what it's done. If it's all marketing then it'll burst , but if the people just love it, it's gonna keep going up and be the next af15..but there will always be a ton for sale at any time so when I see a book that only has 3 copies on the census and its a mega key with white pages, I have to go that way (pence or not). I also worry iron man may lose its mojo once Downey jr is gone, but who knows...cant see a silver age mega key ever dropping in price at any grade so it must be a safe bet if ever there was one in comics. 181? christ! it could hit 10x what it is now or drop to half one day..so get em both any grade and enjoy

I don't think the pence copies will go ahead of the cents copies, but that also depends on the seller. Mile High puts a premium on pence copies, but they also do that for Mark Jewelers and newsstand copies. MCS may sell them for a little more. However, if you purchase from UK sellers, the prices normal out. Most common back issues don't have much price difference between cents and pence. The keys are a different story. You can still find pence keys for 15%-30% less than the cents counterpart. The opinion seems to be changing on the pence copies with the research being shown that these are first prints, and that a particular pence issue is roughly 5% of the print run for that issue. Finding them is one thing, but finding them in high grade is a different feat. I think the value gap will close but it will take a little more time.

That book is striking me as one of the exceptions to the rule in terms of a pence copy being on par or exceeding the value of the cents edition.

Oh really?! I thought I may have bought a dud and perhaps should have waited out for a dollar copy....

here's pics of it

@kaptainmyke The pence copies aren't too far behind the cents for that issue, especially in the higher grades. I've been eyeballing a few UK copies of WBN 32, but I need to sell a few more things first. Very nice book!

Got this off eBay. Was hoping maybe could get a 9.8 with a press but upon arrival and seeing defects, I don’t see it. Oh well. Can’t complain for what I got it for. Happy with owning a 9.6.

Oh and it came with interesting packing material!

Very nice. I'm a Legion fan as well and have just gone through my Adventure Comics run. I don't have any of that quality though. Mine are well read copies bought off the newsstand for the most pat. I re-bagged everything in mylite 2.0s.

How/where did you obtain this from and do you know for sure all the signatures are authentic? Was this a charity piece? Odd that all signatures are perfect and the same color ink.

@Frontier2Xterra thank you!

@Batman66 nowhere close. I have the Byrne run, plus working on filling out early Galactus and SS appearances and a few other keys. The earliest I have is #30. I can't even touch the first few issues.
