Hereās my overtime, tie breaker submission. Bloodstrike #1 by Rob Liefeld, had āblood spattersā on the cover. The red ink reacted to body heat. The idea was that readers could rub the ābloodā with their fingers and it would ādisappearā, kinda like those thermochome shirts from the 90ās. |

There WAS a scratch and sniff entered in the contest and it surprised me that this one never showed up. This is Harley Quinn Annual #1 with "Rub and smell". One of the scents was quite controversial at the time. I chose to go with a tamer version for the forum. And personally, I don't think there is a bigger gimmick cover than the homage cover. But I decided to save what sanity I have left by not going through 3,000 ASM 300 "homage" covers to choose an example. Purely my opinion. |

| Missed this comp so won't post pic but the holo disc on my Web of spiderman #125 still dazzles everyone I show it to.( just showed it to my wife while I was reminiscing about gimmick covers) The 3d standing up and squatting down scarlet Spider is admittedly still pretty cool |
