This is just the thread stater post. I'll be adding photos as time allows. We've arrived in San Diego and will be adding some local color before the convention starts, as well. Enjoy!

I miss when G4 tv would do 24 hour coverage of SDCC every year. Now the Chobot is on a show about Robots.

Friends enjoying Preview Night in the SDCC dealer's floor.

SDCC is an event hundreds of thousands of fans return to every year. These are no lemmings, but they like to be herd.
.

My spousal unit, the delightful author Rachel Caine, known also as Roxanne, pleasantly chatting with the Verzyl family, employees and friends. The Verzyl booth is where we spent much of the evening...

More and (hopefully) better wall shots tomorrow!

What's "preview night?" I assume you need special tickets/passes to enter, but how does one acquire access?

Preview night is a "half-day" of sorts. The convention opens for 3 hours, 6pm-9pm, the night before the first official day of the show, which is Thursday.

It started as a special night for 4-day pass holders (and volunteers) so it was lightly attended. Since then, Comic Con has monetized it somewhat so passes are available that include Preview Night, like a Saturday + Preview Night badge
