ASM Keys6550

Collector Comicnewbie private msg quote post Address this user
Hi. So after listening to some very wise people and suggestions on these boards I have decided to narrow my collection efforts to ASM Keys. I would like to ask you people to give me what you consider the top 10 ASM Keys. I think we can eliminate AF 15 and ASM #1. If there is a key you wouldn’t collect unless it was at least a certain grade, please feel free to include that also. I know it’s all subjective so some degree but I feel I can get a very good start out of this. Thanks in advance for you efforts.

Pick up key 1980's books (i.e. 238, 252, 265)that happen to be Canadian Price Variants. These are starting to increase in price. There is a great deal more room for these books to grow. Australian Price Variants might also be a good idea (from the 1990's).

There's a great blog you can go to:

Eliminate #15? Wow. I'll agree to disagree on that one.

#6 & #9 are good too.

In fact, because Amazing Spider-Man 2 put a bad taste in people’s mouth with Electro, last I checked, you could get a mid grade #9 for less or the same price as some of the other books listed in lower grade.

In the long run, I think that’s a good one to grab.

Probably from a price perspective. OP might wish to buy them and AF15 is out of price range for most people

You can’t discount this book - save and trade other keys to obtain this bad boy!

Stick with Silver age first appearance keys. Analyze the cgc census to see when a book becomes rarer in grade. Than make your move with your top end budget.

100% agree with this.

Really look at what grade is rare. Be patient & grab the highest grade you can afford.

Get the full run from 1 to 100. They are all valuable in that group

129 (9.4 or higher)
238 (9.6/9.8)
300 (9.4 or higher)
700 ditko (9.6/9.8)

The deal with Amazing Spider-Man is the run is chocked full of keys. Huge, large, medium and small. So there are key issues for every budget and every taste.

If you can afford it - start at the beginning. There is also nothing wrong with collecting issues you especially like.

Are you just looking for raws ? I have 1 slab left besides my #1 (well, maybe couple lower grade pre-100's)...not sure if it's what you're collecting though. Let me know because it's going up for sale eventually...

ASM #1 is all I need to complete my AF #15 through ASM #375- For some reason the AF15 just doesn't satisfy, and I need the #1 to feel whole.

First World problems, poor us.

Looking mostly for raw books at the moment. I’ll take affordable key slabs if the price is right.
