So as i was going thru my basement for spring cleaning, i bumped into a box of stuff my step-son had left. Mostly sports stuff and personal things, but also a small stack of comics. Going thru them i found a Venom: Lethal Protector #1 (which i know is ramping up a bit in value) and a Superman #75 newsstand edition 1st print. I've had a hard time trying to find a reliable value on this book. So...is it worth it to slab? I was going to do this for his birthday a few months down the road.

LP #1 Is worth a good amount if it’s a barcode book in high-grade

I did a Venom Lethal Protector 1 Only got a 9.4, might get $40 for it, (haven’t got it in the mail yet) the chrome covers are hard for me to grade. Still a cool book in a slab. I sent this one in at the same time, have not received it yet either, but got a 9.8. Could not read its condition either but saved the order. I would not do the Superman

@shrewbeer It's a direct edition..looks like it would get a 9.4, possibly a 9.6

Venom is a maybe, depends on how accurate your grading predictions are, and how well you sell raws.

If you're subbing other books, yeah.

90 day average in GPA is as follows:

9.4 $53 (14)
9.6 $65 (37)
9.8 $118 (126)

If the Sups 75 newsstand is a 9.6/9.8 candidate, slab it.Even if it's a 9.6, it is probably good for a $100 BIN.

Even directs are good for $100 in 9.8...with the Sups cartoon movie coming out, all the Doomsday/Death/Return books are picking up again.

Have it fast tracked, that should go without saying.

Finally, you should get a paid subscription to Go collect and/or GPA.

It was a bit shy of $300 in newsie, last I looked.

It is still good for about $125 shipped in direct 9.8.

I had oodles of this book years ago, wish I still had them.

Funny thing is, back at Carbo's Big Apple, 3 years ago...I had a Venom 1 in my $10 boxes.

I probably pulled it out of a $1 box, 5 years ago.

I didn't re bag it, it was still in the 1990's Ultra-Pro 4ml mylar sleeve that I bought it in.

A kid pulled it out and passed on it.

A while back, I set it aside for slabbing....ran some putty over the entire front/back cover...holding it up to the light to make sure I got every possible bit clean as a whistle.

I think it has a good chance at a 9.9, maybe a 10.

It is that cherry.

Gonna have it slabbed on site at Baltimore.

Worst case, I get a 9.8.

@CopperAgeKids I recently got a subscription to gocollect. It's been a great help. Thanks to you and the other guys for your input. Think i'll slab both.
