Nova #1  (Yes, it has a date stamp on the cover. To me, that means it is a TRUE Newsstand Edition. Think about it, some old guy who could care less about the condition of the comics, or maybe even a teenager making about $2.25 an hour in 1976, grabbed a stack of comics and as fast as they could slammed a date stamp onto its cover (and then the comic was stuffed onto a metal spinning torture rack). So I look at that date stamp as a Badge of Survival, and to get a 9.6 grade after all that AND being read and handled by my 16 year old self, well that's a miracle. |

New Mutants #1 Direct Edition - Witnessed signature of Bob McLeod I have a few raw copies of this issue, so I tried to pick out my best copy to have signed. I am delighted that I chose right and got the 9.8 grade. I didn't like the fact that Mr. McLeod was charging $30 for a witnessed signature and I think $10 for non-witnessed. |

Omega Men #3 Direct Edition - Witnessed signatures of Keith Giffen and Marv Wolfman I almost never submit books that I think are without a doubt 9.8's. However, this is probably the nicest looking book condition-wise that I have ever submitted for grading. I was a little worried that the handling for the signatures would knock it down to a 9.6. It was actually supposed to have three signatures. I wasn't able to get all the signatures while I was at Terrific Con, but the CBCS representative told me not to worry, that he would get their signatures for me. Well I have no idea what happened with DeCarlo's signature. All three signatures were listed on my original invoice (AND on the Invoice CBCS just returned to me with my graded books). I found out that there would only be two signatures when I noticed the change to my on-line invoice on the CBCS website. Looking on the positive side, maybe DeCarlo's signature would have impacted the grade, so I should be happy about the 9.8 grade and two signatures on this beautiful book. |
