Show me your USPS damaged shipment4224

Collector poka private msg quote post Address this user
ok - my luck this year with USPS ran out after sending more than 200 packages

This is what USPS did to my shipment. The packaging is hard carton which is double boxed and in this case so hard that you can not inflict the damage per the photo unless you use brute force or got stuck in a sorting machine.

Given it is weekend - should we make this a show we your USPS damaged shipment - who is next?

Good opportunity to remind everyone that investing in a giant mailbox helps prevent this from happening

I got the impression that the USPS dropped this package in water, bent it pretty good and then shrink-wrapped it and sent it on its way. This haphazard handling kind of floored booth the seller and myself. The comic was water damaged over half the surface as well as being bent pretty good.

@poka Sorry brah, your packaging sucks. Those cardboard envelopes are weak AF! Upgrade to Gemini style mailers for the sake of your customers.

So far they have held ok (1 out of 200 packages end of like this). have in mind that I am not using only one in a single package - so honestly - you really have to use brute force to bend it like this.

From time to time I do use Gemini style - however - they are no guarantee. I have more than once received comics in Gemini style where the corners were bend.

Have also received picture of th comic inside - and it would seem that it survived although will need a press.

I recommend these mailers from Hot Flips:

http://m.ebay.com/itm/COMIC-BOOK-FLASH-Mailer-Box-for-Comics-Magazines-Trade-or-Digest-CASE-OF-30-/162022277443?nav=WATCHING

They are thicker cardboard and actually cost less than Gemini mailers, I think.

I like these a lot.

Or, you could ship like this and never, ever, ever have a damaged item in the USPS system. How to properly ship comics in the US Mail System.

U Line has a great comic book mailer that you can buy cheap and in bulk. Will hold ~10 books well sandwiched between cardboard/ bubble wrap/ plastic wrap, etc.

I just had an incident where the USPS mail man put my comic package in a lockbox container at my mail unit, and put the key in someone else's mail box...luckily that person opened it and was honest enough to leave the package...and luckily I was snoopy enough to look through all the open containers when my item was not in my mailbox like it should of been when online it says "delivered"...USPS is losing credit for me personally.

...in addition to numerous box crush deliveries.

I live in Akutan, AK. Out in the Aleutian islands. After all the planes, it takes a helicopter to get here. I've received a lot if damaged packages. Sometimes packages arrive with holes in the boxes, and have been retaped by the postal service. I've had a few books damaged getting here. But I've been lucky. None of the high priced ones have been damaged. And I've had almost two thousand books shipped here in the last five years. The worst thing is that packages get stuck in Dutch Harbor sometimes, and you have to wait a month before it arrives

Yes but are you sure that you didn't swap the item? 😆

Yes...that is pooled water on the top. Luckily the comics were old, not valuable and already had slight water damage...Not much moisture go into the bagging.

I'll look for the YouTube videos neighbors have posted of our delivery person...the best was when she through a box out of the truck window then pushed it closer to the sidewalk with a stick...lazy.

@Drogio ouch - it is not just lazy - it is unprofessional and obviously a person who doesn't respect the job. Hope your local PO master is one who does!

I won't post the video because it's through a person's facebook pages my wife is friends with...but here are two screen shots of our postal person...the first tossing the box...the second pushing it into "place" with a stick.

I'll also note that my wife ran over a package this person left in front of our garage door one day as well...

Yes, multiple people have filed complaints...yet the person is still on our route...

You'd pretty much have to catch them stealing the mail, or with a dead body in the truck to get a postal carrier fired.
