Guys and gals, It is time to bid you good folks adieu... I have just celebrated my 72nd birthday, I have no one to leave my collection of just shy of 7,000 books to, I have developed other interests... I will be selling my collection, either wholly, if a reasonable offer is made, or bit by bit on the ebay... I really don't want to go that route, though, as my other interest has become quite time consuming...
I do want to thank you all, first, for making me feel welcome here, and second, for making me feel welcome here... Hell, I told you I was old... You folks are an upstanding bunch, and I spent many enjoyable hours reading knowledgeable posts, funny posts, junk, and friendly posts...
I may show up on occasion, just to check in, see what has or hasn't changed... I wish all of you the best. Take care, and Thank You.

@crystalphoto - Best of luck in all you do! I’m only about 6 years younger, and wonder when I will decide to clean house myself. But there’s still a few books that I wouldn’t mind owning, so feel free to post some stuff here, especially keys, where you won’t have to deal with fee-bay!

You can start with the keys and the slabs and maybe sell the rest to MCS. Do you even know what books you own? I stopped keeping track years ago and don't even know what half the stuff I own is anymore.

I can relate. I've been retired for 12 years now and in that time I'm finally down to about 1 long box and 3 short boxes to having the whole 14,000+ added to CLZ. It's been a long process.

All the best for sure!!

Like others have said, sell your slabes and keys here first....whatever doesnt sell go to Fee-bay and MCS.

All the best to you and your future interests.

Take Care!

Oh, yes, I know very accurately, what is in each box, condition, who I got it from , and what I paid as well as current value...

I still enjoy the hobby, but I have gone with other interests that take precedence... better that someone acquire the collection that can appreciate it, than it just get lost in my estate...

I truly thank you all for the well wishes... I will try and sell as a whole first, though some folks I contacted are really insulting... If nothing comes from that, I will post the better books here, where they will be appreciated... I just don't want to take the time to do it, but will go with the necessary route...

Hey that's awesome, a Happy Birthday and a congratulations to you!

As others have said, consider selling some of your books here. Maybe run a themed series of Posts for your sales where forum members could claim in the posts? As you said, you have a good idea of what you have and its value, so hopefully you do come across a collector or dealer that will give you a fair price for the lot. Best of luck!

@crystalphoto, as everyone has said, you can post here and help everyone else along the way. I am myself getting on in years, but I feel I still have a few good ones left, and will keep busy buying as long as I can afford to. I still enjoy collecting and the hunt for whatever I don't have. I do have kids that I will leave my books to, so there is that.

On another note, I hate change! So It hurts a bit, even though I don't know you personally, to see even an online "friend/acquaintance" leave. I hope for the best for you, but come back every once in a while to let us know how you're doing.

Have I told you about the time I dropped off 3,000 comics at SDCC? Scifinator private msg quote post Address this user
@crystalphoto - may you have sunny days and smooth sailing in your future ventures.

You might want to contact Conan at MyComicShop.Com / Lone Star Comics. I am sure that they would be happy to pick up your collection for consignment. They photo, catalog, and list on their website and dually on ebay, for free. You set the prices you want for each item, and when items sell, they package, ship, and send you check less a very reasonable 8-10% total fee.

That said, I would be very interested in high grade 1st 38 appearances of Silver Surfer (ie Fantastic Four 48-Silver Surfer 18).

I hope comics brought as much joy to you as your other hobbies. Id say if I didn’t have to work then id have so much time for all of my hobbies, but not having to work would be joy enough and I wouldn’t need an escape.

Also if you’re not going post books then get out. Go on; get. 😝

Guy's, Gal's, please understand, I am selling because I DO NOT HAVE THE TIME to spend on the collection anymore. I don't mind requests, in fact I thank you for them, BUT I do not have the time, nor the ambition to go through and grade all the books individually... I have that information in a file of the content of the boxes, sixty something boxes... I have to get my other business running, and time does not allow me to... Please, If you are interested in the collection, send me contact information, and I will send it when I can, I promise... I have a list of the collection, but all that gives is issue #'s... all the grading is in the box contents, along with notes, and in most cases, defects listed... I will have to send the box contents in batches, as the last time I tried to send it, even zipped folder, the ISP server said it was too large... Individual request will be dealt with once the effort to sell the entirety has been exhausted, not anytime sooner, I am sorry, time does not allow it...Also, as side note, I am located in nothern part of South Carolina. I am stating this, because the collection, if sold, will have to be picked up... I am not physically able to ship the sixty some odd boxes, and supplies that will go with it...

Thanks again for all the requests, they will be handled on a first come first served basis when time allows, but not without contact information (email)... I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause...
