Is $110 million a positive globally? I haven't looked at any other mcu movies but 110 just off top of my head seems pretty darn sad as well |

Quote:Originally Posted by Nuffsaid111 It isn’t. They will need a minimum $450M global (domestic plus row) take to break even (in the best case). Reality is they likely have to hit $600M or so to break even. Especially given the splits of more box office from foreign - the studios pocket more from domestic box office. |

Luckily the writer's strike is over so we can see classic movies remade again over and over (without AI).

There are entertaining aspects and some good twists but overall, damn near every film was the same yet somehow the quality differed. I like to be entertained when I go to a movie or even watch one at home. I haven't felt that in quite a while. |

There's only three MCU movies I've seen in their entirety; The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy I, and Guardians of the Galaxy II.

I've seen parts of Thor, none of Infinity War. No real desire. They don't really play well with the 1970s ideals in my head.

Killers of the Flower Moon, Scorsese’s Oscar front runner took in 23 million its first weekend (less than half of the Marvels) and likewise needs 400 million to break even. It appears to have no chance of that. While Marvel fans are spoiled by the occasional massive box office numbers, their movies still bring in tons of revenue. They are not going anywhere, but I do hope they forget about the multi verse and mine the great stories and characters they have in the vault in stand alone movies.

Took the grandkids to see the Marvels... My opinion and the grandkids opinions Marvel has lost there way.. Story line was ok until it went off track Don't get me wrong there were some good parts but... The singing planet NO... the sun being sucked into a worm hole.. NO.. The all woman Super hero's.. They were weak.. No Black Widow ass kicker among them.. They were all to campy.. The grandkids opinions.. 12 boy..14 boy & 14 girl Thumbs down, It even fell below Thor Love & Thunder.. Which they said s also Stunk.. If Marvel doesn't go back to serious ass kicking super hero's with good story lines (the comics are full of them) and stops with there woke agenda there doomed.. |

Dang. Like Christan McCaffreyy says in his Visa commercial, "tough crowd." Just happy as an old guy that they made every Marvel show and movie for me. Many turds, but still re-watch them over and over again, looking forward to seeing the Marvels again.

I see the 2nd week of Marvels was a majestic success both domestically & internationally ![]() ![]() ![]() It makes me so happy when I see failure tied in with poor quality of product. Was getting worried that these piece of sh%t movies they've been putting out would still net incredible profits and yet it's been going down down down down as time progresses. Good. Someone needs to wake up....be it Iger or Feige or whomever and start being the force again that you once were with both the effects AND most importantly storytelling and originality. So so tired of hearing "oh the movie was alot of fun" as being the best review one can muster for this crap they're putting out lately. Glad it's hitting them in the pocketbook now. |

I would love to see The Marvels in the theater, but won't be able to. We thoroughly enjoyed the Ms. Marvel TV show, but have a 7-year-old and don't get to go to the movies regularly anymore. The last Marvel movie I saw in the theater opening night was Doctor Strange (the first one). Other than Wakanda Forever, I have at least tried to watch all of the MCU films (I was heartbroken when Chadwick Boseman died, and it still feels like too soon to watch the new film). There is a definite audience fatigue as far as superhero films go, but the average quality of the MCU product has definitely fallen off since Phase Three ended. But as has been pointed out in this thread, not all the early films were good. I, personally, like Iron Man 2. But 3? Nah, fam. The first Thor film was okay at best, and two was not great. Hated Age of Ultron. But much of the success of the first three phases of the MCU was mostly founded on the charisma and ability of the stars. When you lose those stars, for whatever reason, it leaves a massive hole. Combine that with the human distaste for change (amplified among comic fans), and a fall off in box office would be expected. Combine that with the dilution effect of multiple (sometimes excellent) TV shows, and of course fewer people are going to cough up money for a movie ticket. In essence, why should I go to the movie theater? The average movie ticket is almost 12 bucks. Disney+ is $14/month. If I am going to get to see the movie sooner or later (sooner, the worse it does in theaters), why bother? Disney will figure it out. Or they won't. To be honest, I really wish DC would get its act together. The last time DC put out two good movies in a row were Batman and Batman Returns. Either way, I still have my comics. TL,DR: Movie quality is cyclical, and we have a rosy perception of the past. |

@James42 We took our 8 year old and she loved it. Had to take a couple trips to the bathroom but that was it. The audience rating is 83% so people who are bothering to go are enjoying it.
