The CGC Debuts New Label and Slab.19812

I've spent years perfecting my brand of assholery. DrWatson private msg quote post Address this user
The Grade Your Own Slab. It ships with a dry erase marker so you can change the grade and label notes to match your needs.

Great! I've been wanting to upgrade some of my comics.

I thought that label was only for the invisible comics.

No, those were all assigned grades.

@the420bandito
It's a self-serve QC department. The customer checks it out, and keeps it or returns it.

With disappearing ink, though.

Not on the label. This one on eBay can be yours for $6,000 or Best Offer.

QC is for AI... which for the cgc would be an improvement of several orders of magnitude.

The sad part for that Carnage Forever is that it would be a fail at Labels, at Heat Seal, at Encapsulation, and at QC.

CGC has no QC and CBCS has no CS. The slabbing portion of comic collecting is dead as far as I'm concerned.

It’s a nice clean label. They just took our collective input (grade too prominent, too much text) and implemented.

It’s a recently published book and should be worth its cover price. Obviously a 9.6+ book, with its title and contributors prominently displayed already.

I don’t see any problem here. If anything it’s an improvement!

Word going around is that the book was a sample that CGC had at their booth at San Diego and that somebody swiped it.

Wouldn't CGC have already come forward with this info if that was true?

They are the 900-pound gorilla in the room as far as grading comics goes. Like it or not, what CGC does has repercussions for anyone with an interest in graded books. Even if they don't own a single CGC slab. Market share alone means collectors can't just ignore them.
