@teacha777 Ship pressing orders to the office in Florida. You can ship them to Dallas, but it may slow the order down by going through extra hands.

@SteveRicketts - I was able to find some conflicting info on pressing of foil/embossed/hologram etc covers so hope you don't mind if I ask about pressing of Secret City Saga 0A &/or 0B foil covers and WildC.A.T.S. 1C Goid Edition.
Thanks much.

Foil isn't a problem.

Embossed, hologram, and chromium can't be pressed in the typical sense, but there are things that can be done with localized pressing and other methods. If anything can be done to help those books, we do it. If not, we will reject the book and refund the pressing charge.

@Squack We started working on books from 2/15 today, for orders that are in-queue.
Current turnaround for submissions received today is around 8-9 weeks.

@SteveRicketts Good day to you. Any update on pressing and subsequent grading/slabbing of magazine size comics? My Savage Sword of Conan #1 anxiously awaits. Also any other pressing special announcements forthcoming?

Is that 8-9 weeks just for the pressing?

@SteveRickets Just received back 3 Silver Surfer #50 (silver foil embossed cover) back from cbcs grading. All 3 came back 9.4 with the same graders note "Very long production crease left back cover". Seeing as how they are a heavy stock, is there a probability that your magic would work on these? The worst appears to be the top of the stack of three.

Thanks much for your guidance.

There's probably not much that can be done for those books. The fact that the front covers are embossed adds to the complexity. Not to mention it looks like the production creases break color at least a little.

Steve how much luck are you having pressing out the production line from the Ultimate Fallout 4?
Post 666 IP   flag post
CBCS Pressing SteveRicketts private msg quote post Address this user
Generally pretty good luck on most copies. If the line is so deep that it actually scratches the paper fiber, it won't completely come out.

They've been pressed and should start showing progress on your dashboard within the next week or two. I don't think it will take much longer than that before they ship to you.

Thank goodness!! - I handed mine off mid Feb in Toronto

This is only week 17 - figured 6 or so for grading and 8/10 for pressing - so just about now!!

Now of course the receive date on my dash is mid March so maybe 4 weeks added to time?

Does TAT start from when we hand books over or when they show as received on the dash? Almost a month difference - handed off Feb 17 - on dash as March 14!!

Same status on yours. They're pressed and should start moving through status changes very soon.

@SteveRicketts What is this billing policy for sending in a CGC encased comic for CBCS Pressing & Grading? I ask because back in January I sent in an order for such and upon receipt by CBCS in FL, the $12 pressing fee was removed and a $5 press screening fee was added. Then a couple of days ago, I noticed that the $12 pressing fee was re-added while the $5 press screening fee is still applied. I sent in a note to customer service, but haven't received a response yet. I just want to also make sure I load up the orders correctly as I have a couple dozen more CGC encased books that I want to send in for press and re-grade by CBCS.

Thanks much.

@Scifinator I believe that before cracking out of a case they will screen first (as best they can through the case) to see if a press would be likely to increase the grade of the book.

Pretty sure that's why you ended up with the screening charge.

If you want them pressed no matter what then might be easier to just crack them out of the cases before sending in?
Post 678 IP   flag post
CBCS Pressing SteveRicketts private msg quote post Address this user
@Scifinator If you choose "Press Screen" on a book that was already in a holder by any certification company, you are charged the screening fee. If I think it has a chance to get a grade bump, the book is then cracked out of the holder and pressed and sent for grading. You are charged the pressing and grading fees in addition to the screening fee. If I do not think it has a chance of getting a grade bump, I leave it in the case, which is sent back to you without being pressed or graded by CBCS, and you only pay the screening fee.

@SteveRicketts Thank you for your reply. That is the thing though. I did not choose "Press Sceen" I opted directly for Press & Grade. CBCS added press screen after order receipt.
