Need interesting cover suggestions under $5018005

I'm changing my collecting focus. Not buying for resale, just to have and keep. Significantly reducing my buying budget and focusing on filling out my X-men run, Daredevil run and also interesting covers to have for my permanent collection. One of my favorite things about this hobby is finding (non-key) covers that I either never saw or never took notice of before. I would appreciate seeing any suggestions you might have that I should explore. General flexible parameters I have: Condition is not overly important as long as it's good enough to display Pre-1985 is preferred War and Horror are great (seems to be a lot of great covers in those two categories) Painted covers and magazines are great Preferably under $20 in lower mid grade. Flexible, but rarely want to go over $50. If you have any ideas, share them here please, either with or without pictures. |

You can also look at Spectre covers. There are some bronze age books both in the Spectre and Adventure Comics series within your price range. |

Those are great. MCS stock is very low. I put some Whitman versions in my cart. If they are still around when I checkout all 4 will total under $20. Quote: Originally Posted by Darkseid_of_town |

I always felt Atlas Seaboard comics of 1975 had great covers. They're in your price range for sure in raw form. Genres span from superhero to war to barbarian to occult and monster. I've always felt these book were under appreciated. Here's an archived thread. Archived CBCS Forum Thread: Atlas Seaboard Appreciation |

Your speaking my language, this is the majority of what I collect. To me, any old horror is worth picking up, story wise, Magazine (Creepy, Eerie, Savage Sword etc) I feel are the best bang for your buck.

Dazzler #27-35. I love the painted Bill Sienkiewicz covers. Most are fairly inexpensive with #33 being a little more because of the Thriller homage. Witching Hour and Ghosts covers by Nick Cardy. |

If you're looking for painted covers then early Turoks have some very nice dinosaur covers, plus some of the earlier issues have price variants. |

@EbayMafia You should just watch the next auctions coming up. There were a number of slabbed books that ended under well under $50.00 in the last Comic Link auction. I picked up a Captain America 307 in 9.6 for 36.00. There were a bunch of comics that ended at or around 20.00. That’s cheaper than the costs associated with getting them slabbed. Also, you generally only wait 21 days until they are in hand after an auction ends and you’ve paid for them. Right now there is an Avengers 31 cgc 9.0 at a $1.00, Avengers 19 cgc 7.0 at 24.00, Avengers 44 cgc 7.5 at 1.00, and Avengers 72 Twin Cities Pedigree cgc 8.0 with no bid at Comic Link. Those and many others end in 9 days. While they may or may not end at these prices you can find some dynamic covers at low prices at auctions. I don’t think that trend is going to change in the foreseeable future. |

Occasionally I go to ebay type in CBCS or CGC or others, go to auction only, then sort by ending soonest. Got a stabbed 9.8 nothing book for $5, but it's still a first appearance and you never know.

Did a lot of selling over the last few months and now I'm returning to my collecting roots...buying for personal enjoyment rather than for spec. @figment That Classic Illustrated Time Machine fits the bill, I will be bidding on that. Slabbed is stil good, just not a priority. |
