| Dell Giant Pogo Parade #1 CBCS 5.5 I don't in general complain about the grades we get, but I thought this was for sure a 7.0. Shows what I know. This is the issue that ended the comic series by its publication. Dell decided to reprint some of the Pogo stories that appeared in Animal Comics without asking Walt Kelly, who wasn't happy about their choices. A bit ahead of his time, Walt had already abandoned the racially insensitive character Bumbazine, in part because of feedback from readers, and was not pleased at the characters reappearance in this reprint issue. When Dell proceeded to publish Walt abandoned the comic book medium, ceasing the ongoing Dell Pogo Possum series, and moving exclusively to newspaper syndication.   |
