So...short story. I bought this from Freddie Williams III at Megacon this year.
I got a CBCS witness to come with me to the booth and witness me purchasing this.
Freddie asked if I wanted it signed a second time on the inside cover and I was like...sure, why not.
I submitted for art label. Then CBCS comes back and is like; he dated it 2020.
I completely missed it, the witness completely missed it, the guy at the booth when I finished my paperwork missed it. So CBCS says, since it's dated 2020, we'll have to sig verify.
I was like...well, I guess if you have to I'll pay for the one verification, but not two of them because they sig on the interior was witnessed. E-mailed back and forth and they were only going to charge for one verified sig. Then, right before it's sent back to me I get charged on my credit card...not only was I charged for two sig verifications, but they also just labeled it as "sketch on cover"...as if their rep wasn't standing there when I bought it. So, this art label ended up costing me over $60 (once you include the shipping split between everything submitted), but the sketch isn't "associated" with Freddie Williams III. It looks amazing, but certainly not worth it to use CBCS for this. E-mails have gone unanswered and I'm likely going to flag the charges with my credit card company.

Yeah, they had a disagreement on cigar brands.

It serves as a watermark. It's only on the scan, not the art.

Hi there! I would highly recommend checking out some of the art galleries online! There are a lot of amazing artists out there who specialize in commissions. You can also search for commissions on social media sites like Instagram and Twitter. There are also many websites dedicated to listings of commission artists. If you can, try to find some reviews from previous customers to make sure you're getting the best quality work. Also, I've found an article about linocut, which is an excellent technique for commissions. You could find there someone who can make one for you. Good luck with your search!

Super thrilled with these recent purchases. Not authenticated but I plan to send them in to CBCS Beckett for authentication and slabbing. (I just don't know if I want to wait a year)

They were found at my local comic shop.

The colored Captain America is by Michael Carey and is mixed media. (I love that you can feel the paint lines on the cover). This Michael Carey is known for fine art of fantasy. (not comic books - yet!). https://www.instagram.com/michaelcareyart/?hl=en Got this for $50. I'm thrilled - beautiful talent.

The last one is a monotone(?) Captain America by artist Ken Branch - he's known for his pencil, ink, and color work in DC Comics, Marvel, Valiant, Ultraverse, Malibu, First, Comico, Chaos, Image. https://www.comicartshop.com/comicartshopsbycat.asp?PView=A&age=1&GCat=17125&Order=Date Got this for $40.

Question for the group - if i decide to get these graded, should I avoid pressing due to the mixed media? (Does heat and sketch covers/mixed media NOT a good idea?)

My suggestion is to get Art designation. Anything lower than a 9.8 would detract from the art and frankly that's prolly where the real value sits not on the book itself.
