My 1st road trip for MCS17760

The Fifth Golden Girl sborock private msg quote post Address this user
Went to Colorado and picked up 14000 comics.

So much work for this deal! Stuff was packed in a small room off their garage. Was 85 degrees and I had to clean/move everything around just to get to the comics!

Fun and successful trip anyway.

Here is a pic of the room once I moved most of the stuff out of the way.

Was this a pick up for consignment or does MCS buy collections? That’s a lot of comics!

We do both consignments and buying. This was a buying trip.

I may have to keep that in mind if I ever decided to liquidate.

Somewhere in the 8-10,000 book range at my house.

Well you won't have to drive nearly as far if we ever decide to liquidate, but then our collection is only about 1/10 that size.

There is something so therapeutic about seeing peoples' collection rooms. I suppose it at least provides the knowledge that I'm not the only one with a room full of comics.

Steve, when you get back maybe you can talk to them about not using packing peanuts in their shipments. They're the worst.

Got to go on another buying trip today! It was in Texas, so I did not have to travel too far

Picked up 1900+ CBCS & CGC slabs. Nothing big, but an impressive amount of books. That was easy and fun! (Forgot to take some pics, sorry!)

Lol, trying to imagine the scenario where I hire a Director and 30 days in he wants to talk to me about packaging peanuts. In the private sector we call that a CEM…a career ending maneuver.

LOL!
Yeah, I am sticking to what I know best and that's traveling procuring comics and art, figuring what books should be pressed or not, which go to a grading service, grade the bigger books we sell raw, training MCS graders, getting MCS to do many more conventions and being their face on the convention floor, helping with advertising and special projects, helping with ideas that come up or I come up with. Other stuff as well!

A heck of a lot different than sitting at my grading desk all day!

Life is good

You know, the image I had of a consignment director was you in a suit, behind a mahogany desk talking to high rollers on video chats about consigning their million dollar collections. I never imagined it would be jeans and t-shirt, driving to homes and loading collections into a cargo van/truck.

Maybe you can start an email list and detail all your travels like this one guy in Denver is known to do. Some pictures of you in a pretty dress would be nice too

As I type this I see you've posted up a more detailed description of your duties. Sounds like a diverse bunch of responsibilities and I'm happy you are happy!!

Maybe he can slip the suggestion to one of the lower-ranking peons who just wants to improve the company a tiny bit. However the private sector usually accomplishes things.
