Perfect color on Secret Wars #8?17414

| I was looking over my copies of Secret Wars #8 and noticed a color difference between the direct and newsstand edition. I understand that colors will be much brighter on books that are printed earlier in the print cycle versus those towards the end of the printing cycle. I thought the differences were only with my copies, but I checked several random copies on ebay and saw quite a few with the same issues. On the direct editions, Spiderman's right index finger(left hand on the cover) nearly blends in with the smoke in the background. Some copies don't look too bad, just a splotch of black around his fingertips, but other copies I've seen his entire hand is almost blended in with the background.    On the newsstand edition, his hand is clearly visible from the smoke, however the red color on the cover gets lighter as it goes from left to right. On the direct edition, it appears the color is consistent from left to right.    I'm sure there are copies of direct editions where Spidey's hand is clearly visible, like on the newsstand editions, but I couldn't find any that were as clear as the newsstand editions or didn't have a splotch of black around it's fingertips. I'm also sure there are newsstand editions where the colors on the left side is just as dark on the right side, I just couldn't find any without a slight color difference. |

Looking at the direct editions that I have owned, they all seem to have a darker area within the smoke near Spidey’s hand.  |

| @esaravo Mine are the same way. I have a newsstand copy and there is no black splotch, but the background color fades from left to right. | ||

Out of curiosity, I've checked my copy of MSH Secret Wars #8, and it, too, has a darker area around Spider-Man's right hand. I also looked at a photo of the newsstand edition that I sold a while back. You're absolutely right, the smoke has a consistent colour and Spider-Man's hand stands out. Mine does not, however have any appreciable colour fade from left to right. It is much more orange overall than the direct copy, though.  |

| @Byrdibyrd It could be the angle of the picture, but that direct edition looks like his index finger is missing. The newsstand copy looks pretty consistent throughout though. @Bronte The black spot is barely noticeable on your copy. |

| @50AE_DE My direct edition has blotchy smoke, and it really is pretty dark around Spidey's hand. You can see another blotch - a lighter one but still easy to see - directly above Iron Man's butt. |

Not the best picture but my 9.6 seems to be easy to see spidey’s hand but the other two it is a lot harder. |

I checked on my other two MSH Secret Wars #8 - the two direct editions that I sold - and they have blotchy-Spidey-finger issues, too. That and check the Newton rings on the first one. Gee, thanks, CGC!  |
