I'm afraid to look for "white whales" because it didn't end well for Captain Ahab. I've already caught several big fish without being pulled under; I don't wanna push my luck! ![]() ![]() . |

@kaptainmyke I bought my copy that came out of Eastman's collection like a decade ago+-. I really can't remember the year I added it. I paid just over a grand for it. So, I'm sure I overpaid for it. However, it came out of Kevin's collection. So, I made the stretch. I have no idea what that book is worth today. One of the few comics I kept. Just couldn't part with it. |

I was just reminded of a "White whale". This one is so far off my radar that when I do see one for sale, it's like spotting an ufo!! Despite my terrible memory, I have wanted this comic since I was a kid. I've pretty much given up on owning one. My "Moby Dick" is Hot Stuff #1 from 1957!!! I'd even seriously consider a coverless copy at this point. Hot Stuff was, and still is, my favorite Harvey character. Spooky, Casper, Wendy and the Ghostly Trio are up there, but Hot Stuff is the king!

@Jesse_O There’s a super low grade copy that presents pretty well on e-bay for $300. Not bad given the scarcity. I’ve wanted one myself. e-Bay |

@00slim I saw that one, but I appreciate the heads-up. Unfortunately, right now, that is not in my budget. I'm patient. Eventually, I'm hoping there will be one available at a price point I can swing. And, with any luck, I'll have more disposable income in a few years. ![]() |

I’ve had so many opportunities over the years for a white whale, but I’ve always gone for their slimmer counterparts……..

I'd say something I'll never own but dream about getting is Tec 27 in complete shape. 2nd to this is probably Batman #1 also in complete shape. The one I'm realistically saving up for right now selling/trading is Tec 168 |

My white whales tend to change but I’m on the hunt for Detective Comics #359 and Batman #171. Had really nice copies a few years back and kicking myself for selling them ever since. Of course, if I’m just picking the ultimate book that I’ll never have, that would be Detective Comics #27. |

Quote:Originally Posted by kaptainmyke The 93-95 roadsters were going for as low as mid-to-high 20s for “fixers” (needing $10k+ in parts, despite “Dodge parts bin” rep) and mid 30s for nicer examples… just two or three years ago. Now the equivalent are running about 50-80% more expensive. They were always screaming bargains but overshadowed by the GTS blue-white coupes (96-97) that were huge bargains themselves (in the $50-$60k range, now going for $80-$120k!) Still awesome bargains. Have driven a few and the lumpy idle plus pure torque plus amazing lines = future massive classic. Rare too… the blue/white GTS will easily be $250-$500k+ cars in 10-20 years. Make the trade. Your wife may end up liking it more than expected |
