I was going to say the same, only I'm just searching for the cover to More Fun #52. My second book is All American Comics #61 - 1st Solomon Grundy.

X-Men 1 UK price variant
Transformers 1 (complete) Marvel UK
Dazzler 41 CPV

Two are a possibility but the Dazzler might be tough.

I have a bunch of Grateful Dead Almanac original art pieces by Tim Truman and trying to get as many as I can, but so much is in private collections of "Dead Heads" that they don't care about selling
Here's one that Tim drew my daughter into. That was a cool suprise!

I had to think on this for a while. I have a lot of fish that I want to catch. Some are whales (big price) and some are white (rare), but the combination of the two is what I had to determine. And instead of one particular book, I have a variety that is basically the same. My "White whale" would be any EC horror comic depicting an execution. It can be a beheading, a hanging, whatever. These comics go for insane prices (for me) and don't come up all that often (relatively speaking). Thankfully, I have been able to land a white whale here and there in my life, but they are few and far in-between. I just never give up hope!!

Police Comics #1. 1st app of Pastic Man. Even low grades, when any do show up, go for a pretty penny.

I would love a good solid copy of Journey into mystery 83. I’ve always loved Thor and I should of bought one years ago. But probably never be able to.

My holiest of grails:

Silver Surfer #1 Volume 1 CBCS Certified 9.8 Blue with a symmetrical wrap. Could have won one in Comiclink Auction back about a year and a half or two ago, for probably around 12k, but the wrap was diagonal with a about 1/8th" to 1/4" white showing at the bottom third and I couldn't bring myself to bid to win.

If I ever hook that whale, then, I would be willing to part with:

In the meantime, this remains the placeholder.

My "white" is definitely the cover to More Fun #52. I already have a coverless copy and at this point it may be easier just to find a complete copy than just the cover, but it's priced more than what I want to pay for a comic book that isn't a Detective Comic #27.

My "whales" are the following: Blue Beetle #54, Bold Stories #1, Harvey Library Comics #1, Punch Comics #10, Witches Tales #25, Black Cat Mysteries #55, and probably a few others I left off.

this discussion has gotten bigger then I expected. its actually kind of helped me find one of mine "Ultimate fallout #4". someone is selling me a facsmile edition. I know its basically a remake but its still collectible and realistically only way I can get it. will get it graded as soon as I can (i know not as much but still valuable)

You and me both. There was one For a few grand on eBay with a near complete set of the run…if only I had that kind of cash.

Here’s a white whale I ā€œwasā€ waiting years for to show up in a 9.6 or better on eBay…happened to check the shortbox app and there it was…grabbed for $165…previous sales for 9.8 were hundreds more.

Now my white whale is a 9.6 better newsstand..

Why not go for a 2nd print? Wait for the right raw copy can get a good deal.

Just a thought.

Same with EotSV 2 later prints.

Look at the later printings of Darth Vader 3 (1st Aphra)…you never know…

The red label looks great! Have you considered changing to the yellow?

@GAC - I did consider, but in comparing yellow labeled to this red label, i thought the red label just blends a little better and makes the Red in the title sweep and cosmos pop. So I am keeping as is. I made the opposite decision with my X-Men 100 as I thought the yellow worked better with the greens and yellows of that cover, so I re-holdered that.

no question the red label works better on this cover. Looks awesome! I always liked the red label but I understand why they changed it.

Mine is either Journey Into Mystery #83 or Fantastic Four #5. I "need" both, but I'm not sure which one I want to prioritize. It probably doesn't matter since I'd need the hobby to crash for either one to happen, so I'll get both.
Waiting...
