Why blot out the seller name? That person was obviously okay with posting his information on the auction?

I like to keep my selling and forum accounts separate.

@KatKomics no idea but I rushed to buy 2 copies for $8 on MCS and instantly regret not checking ebay first.

@KatKomics Did you read Identity Crisis? I remember it as one of the most disappointing conclusions to one of the most intriguing story lines. I can't remember another story arc that piqued my interest that much and then disappointed so badly in the conclusion. I do think it's worth reading though for those who haven't read it. It introduces a very compelling concept...the idea that both heroes and villains have unknowingly had their memories wiped and brains altered for various reasons. Very memorable scene when one of the JLA'ers describes Dr. Light as being a bit of a moron and Green Arrow says "yeah, he wasn't always that way...we did that to him".

Read it when it came out, but not since...might have to cut back on new purchases to revisit some old stories?

Still have no idea why someone forked out $1,320 on that book though!!!

NEVER have I seen packing like rhis for a raw book.

The pictures are of a single book in a gemini mailer in between what looks to be custom frames for the gemini inside a super sturdy box. This guy's shipping was worth every penny.....

Nothing negative but I just bought a book from a guy on ebay. He mentioned that he hopes I take good care of "her". I've never met a person with such an attachment to a book.

Granted it's an awesome book and I assured him that it will not leave my collection till I'm dead.

I literally just bought it this afternoon. I don't consider books mine until I have them in hand. I will post it when it arrives. However, it is hardly a grail in the traditional sense. It's just a book I wanted.

Got these. They were of course packed with the good ol’ sandwich in a paper envelope and arrived damaged. They were very nice 9.8 candidates of all 5 X-Men 1 covers. See my next post

After some tooth pulling for a return they are on their way back for refund and a lesson for the seller on basic packing that only cost him $500 in potential 9.8 value.

Didn't think it was possible. The guy spent 123$ on shipping. It was a single cgc book and you shoulda seen the box on this thing.

He wrapped the book in foam and saran wrap. And then in a box then into a bigger box. The outer box was big enough to encompass the box cgc uses for their 25 book shipment. Literally would have survived a 2 story drop.

@Bronte All that to protect a plastic case that can be replaced for under $20? Seems a bit extreme but hey, to each their own. Unless it was international, I would have just shipped Registered Mail for under $50 fully insured.

I messaged the guy. I told him if he ships in future he might want to just buy a laptop shipping box from FedEx. But he only charged me 13 bux in shopping. So he ate the cost. I did leave a positive review and the book is in really nice shape. So I have no complaints .

Edit

Just had a comic delivered. SA book in a modern bag/board. Squished in there, so of course the book’s edge is completely mashed into the bag-edge too.

Will post photos after I see what the seller has to say.

This is someone with multiple comic listings, not an antiques dealer with some random books…

Edit: yes, inadequately protected for shipping too but somehow the outer thin mailing envelope survived…

I had an auction up and a few weeks ago I raised the prices to compensate for the tax forms. Guy emails me asking why the spike in price. I tell him and while typing I decide its not worth selling at all. So I pull the auction completely. The guy asks asks me to put it back up at the original buy it now price. Even after explaining the headache the tax forms would be and my pulling tbe auction.

If I understand right, the guy had a chance to buy it at a BIN but chose not to until you pulled it down? I don't typically have time to waste on folks like that. Well I do have the time, but I chose not to waste it on them.

Yes that's it in a nutshell. I get trying to save a few bux but if a deal passes you by so be it. For what its worth I was selling the book barely above slabbing costs initially.
