The New GoCollect comments15972

Forum Crier OGJackster private msg quote post Address this user
I was just wondering what everyones opinion was of the new direction and major changes that have happened with the GoCollect site.

I personally don't like it. In a nutshell, I don't think it's as intuitive, I don't like the way the series are displayed and I think it has become convoluted with an abundance of information that just gets in the way. I just want a site that has an up to date price guide that's intuitive and has updated values with the additional information available to someone if they want to drill down to get it.

I hate it so far. I'm hoping that my initial opinion is just due to lack of experience with it though.

I am not impressed. The only feature I have seen so far that looks like an upgrade is if you have a CBCS book list, it will now calculate the FMV of that list based on CGC prices. It also looks like some of the information that I had for books on my lists did not transfer with the upgrade, so I will have to edit and update several books. It also feels like it’s more difficult to navigate to and through titles/issues. If it stills feels awkward after a few weeks, it might be time for a change.

You are not wrong. I used to be able to search and have a reasonable expectation of finding what I was looking for with a minimum of trouble. Now I search and I get TONS of rubbish that clearly has nothing to do with my search parameters. WT*, GoCollect? GC used to be my go-to for a quick & dirty general idea of how a series/issue was doing. Now I'm not so sure.

I tried to be positive. I initially chalked my discomfort with the new site up to having to learn something new. I do see some potential in some of the changes, but for the most part I am growing to hate the new site. It's buggy, slower, lacks intuitiveness and unnecessarily cluttered. I saw somewhere on the site that they are still working on some things, but I am not hopeful that they'll clean up the mess in a timely way. I regret that I recently purchased an annual membership.

Nice eye candy, but I liked the old streamlined simple and ease to use site better.

I sent them an email and if they respond I'll let you know.

"I don't want to seem ungrateful but, will there be a legacy version available? I'm sure a lot of thought, time and money went into this latest version but I just don't like it (sorry). I have over 11,000 comic books. I use the Comic Collector app to keep track of them. I don't need or use another place to list and keep track of my collection. What I liked about the previous version of GoCollect was it's simplicity. I used it for one thing (which I thought you did very well for the most part) was to utilize the site for updating the value of my collection through my Comic Collector app and to use it as an online price guide to easily look up values of books. I liked how the series were listed and the ease of use. It was intuitive and easy to navigate. Now it just seems convoluted with a lot of statistical information that is up front and get in the way when it could be viewed if someone wanted to drill deeper for that information. It's also not as intuitive and I'm not crazy about the way series are displayed. I preferred seeing the series in a list version with all information in view. Once again I apologize. The changes you made seem to have changed from the original focus which I was drawn to in the beginning, but not so much now."

I use to use the free version.
Unfortunately the free version doesn't have the low grade values that a lot of my books are.

It appears they have tried to copy key collector with all the other information about books.

Not impressed but I'll see how it evolves as they tune things up.

I'm continuing to give it a chance, but WOW. What a slog! Also, I'm not thrilled with how they list the credits now. Why are letterers mixed in with artists and not under a separate 'letterer' credit?

Some things I can overlook but one thing that is a huge fail to me is that there seems to be an error with how they categorize newsstand variants. Everyone I’ve checked so far is listed under the wrong series title

The interface is crap. too many clicks to get to stuff that used to be easy. The dashboard is useless and I HATE thumbnails for a search engine like this.

I have the paid membership. Before you could scroll through the hot list and it would show you 3 different grades without clicking on the book. I think it was 8.5, 9.2 and 9.8 I really liked that. I cannot seem to find it now. It just shows the books, then you have to click on the book to see all the grades. Has anyone else noticed this or am I totally overlooking something? Too much blog stuff and poster crap.

@BrianGreensnips So we get to see the "HOTEST SELLERS" for posters and video games but no comics until you click on the Comics Dashboard to find it? I had to look around to find the hot sellers on the "Market Overview" page. I don't really care about the games and posters but yet hotest sellers for comics isn't on the home page? What a mess and disappointment!

The search works about as well as it used to, at least for what I've searched so far. I don't like the limited grade results. I honestly never used it for much past that.

Yes a mess. I might be cancelling my membership. So disappointing! Guys, please tell me if you are finding the same thing as me. Or, am just too old and stubborn?

I concur. I'll be trying to give it a chance for a while longer just to see if I get used to it. If not, I may just abandon it and go back to comicspriceguide, the one I used before I discovered GoCollect.

They borked the interface and took what was a useful dashboard where utilized functions were one-click away and created this multiple click, weird thing thumbnail based interface where you have to click through multiple levels of BS to get to the same place that used to be on the landing page.

Seriously, who designed this monstrosity? Not to mention, when I go into the comics to see what they've been selling for, it's no longer in a table form. Where I can see the FMV and then click a dropdown to see the actual sales prices going back years...instead I get a graph with points plotted on it, where I have to scroll over the points to see the sales price? WTF is that?

Actually, they have the sales in a list below the graph, but I've noticed that sometimes it doesn't load promptly.

One of my big issues is that I used open directly onto something useful to me, and now I get a confusing mish-mash of concert posters and rubbish that makes it difficult to find what used to be Right Freakin' There.

Am I missing something or can I literally not search my own book lists and NEED to scroll through them all?

Just to try and find a short cut for that garbage, I looked up some random given book that I think I own, and there isn't even a note any more telling you that you already have it in one of your lists.

What an absolute garbage bunch of changes they implemented.
