@Scifinator I'm sure I'm over simplifying this, but it seems crazy to open the package and not scan the barcode on the submission form.

Quote:Originally Posted by Supertom I would assume that its more than just opening the box, they really need to verify that the books on the submission form match the books that are in the box. Otherwise, if there is a discrepancy found when they go to grading (months later) the could be accused of losing books, etc. From a sheer book storage perspective I can also understand why they would open boxes as there tends to be a large amount of packing material involved, so opening the boxes does cut down on warehousing needs. But hey, there is a lot of crazy stuff going on in the graded comic book industry and these companies are experiencing explosive growth, so who the heck knows what is really going on? |

Today marks six months (26 weeks) for my second batch which is still in the "grading" stage. My first batch was 21 weeks (from the moment I submitted online to the moment it arrived at my front door) |

But, because of the sudden recent deluge, they are not taking the extra time to also update the external dashboard (which is a separate system for security purposes). I know for a fact that they inspect upon receipt as there was a sub-box within my multi-submission overshipper box that was missing and they contacted me about it the day after delivery. But, those two modern and expanded submissions do not show on my dashboard and likely won't until well into the process. But, they are in their system obviously. |

Just got an email that an order made it to production! It isn't my order from January but a 2-day modern order with pressing from late August. Now to see how long they languish getting into slabs.

Quote:Originally Posted by Scifinator I appreciate the info and I wish it was comforting. I still question this a bit because I sent my books through a 3rd party presser. They informed me that one of my books was not worth cracking and pressing so I asked them to modify the form and change that book to just a reholder. I was expecting some kind of validation, or verification from CBCS when the books arrived since there would now be a discrepancy between my online submission and the paper copy. I guess I also foolishly thought scanning the barcode on the submission form would trigger at least some kind of automated response. I'm really not trying to be a curmudgeon, worry wort here but I'm just baffled at the inefficiencies and lack of communication. Both companies should have stop taking submissions months ago if this is the result. |

@xkonk was it fast press or normal? I had a 2 day modern order with fast press arrive august 19th and it still says processing. Messaged cbcs pressing 2 weeks ago and it was done pressing, but still no update on my dashboard or anything.

It's not just the pressing that delays everything. I am now waiting 21 weeks after received into the system for modern tier and it's not even in grading yet. It took 5 weeks after delivery for them to receive it, so that's 26 weeks. Just grading, no pressing or special services.

Quote:Originally Posted by radar2121 Just normal. Pressing is kind of a catch-all term; maybe my books didn't need much work. I sent one with press screen (it was already graded by another company) and it wasn't pressed. I would expect yours to be moving fairly soon. Also, be sure to see what it says on your invoice. "Processing" is the default status on the dashboard for anything that's been received but not completed, while the invoice *usually* has better information. |

I shipped them in March...lol... Can't wait. Some nice bronze age pieces in that lot. Including a secret wars #8. |

I sent in 1 comic for 2-Day Modern that USPS states was delivered on Aug 23. I think I might of forgotten to print 2-Day Modern on the box. I have not seen any acknowledgement from CBCS that it was delivered. Is this unusual?

@crashco I've never labeled my boxes; it shouldn't matter. I would say it's a bit unusual. Did you have pressing or anything else, or it's just one comic for grading?

They are not updating the external “Dashboard” system that we see currently until much later in the process. It seems the 2day modern may be taking beyond the estimated 1 week that is stated on the TAT. Also, vsp looks to be adding a week or two. My guess you will see a slew of movement shortly as the external data is eventually caught up. |

It’s been so long that the DHL tracking number is no longer active. I requested confirmation from DHL that it was in fact delivered to the correct address in Dallas before taking things up with CBCS EDIT: Okay, I THINK what happened is that the order that was checked in includes a reholder, which have a faster turnaround time than actual grading. So I think the order was marked as received because the reholder has entered its labelling/reholder stage; the dashboard says it’s in “Grading” while the modern tier is still “Received”. It’s not much but it makes enough sense |

I sent in a couple of books back in the spring. They were received on May 3rd. Now they are in processing/grading and have been there fro about a monthand a half now. So it's been 21 weeks and pretty much zero movement. This is the first time I have ever sent in any books, so about how much longer do I need to wait? No pressing or anything else. Just a grade and slab. I mean the salesman at the convention told me ot would be about 16 weeks, so that was a lie. |
