Does CBCS have plans for a price guide?13427

Is this something in the works? Like the Beckett OPG? It would be very nice FMVs from someone in the “official” grading/authenticating community for comics.

Why would they? That niche is pretty well filled.

For hopefully a reliable one stop, rather than checking multiple sources. Mainly for the sake of my own laziness.

Edit: I’d also be more inclined to pay for a CBCS membership if a reliable/accurate and comprehensive FMV guide was included.

I really don't see them allocating resources to this with most people using gpanalysis for CBCS graded books even though it exclusively tracks books graded by the cgc. Plus, there is GoCollect that tracks both as well as eBay sales. I don't see them dabbling in raw book prices at all.

The internet now gives us a public record of daily transactions. Price guides don't really serve their intended purpose anymore. Even for Overstreet the prices are pretty much the least important part of the book.

I will say that judging value based on eBay sales is not an exact science though. Listed prices are incredible inflated, and actually sale prices swing greatly. You can deduce a round about average, but that is also assuming there where a good enough amounts of sales for that grade and book to reference in the first place.
I understand why CBCS would not be interested in diverting resources to this endeavor since grading is their business. I can also see the desire for folks wanting another more accurate raw comic pricing resource.

I can also see the potential for some undesirable behavior. Say you're the company with an 'only graded example' or a highest graded copy. And you also publish a price guide? What's to stop you from basically setting the market for that book? People already kind of think that the companies hand out 9.9s and 10s like lottery tickets; if they also set the jackpot I think you'd see some pretty sore opinions.

I understand there are other sources available, but I'd happily replace my other paid memberships with CBCS if a price guide was offered.

Just saying.

TPGers should in no way, Shape or form be involved in ANY kind of pricing. MAJOR conflict of interest.
