Bags and boards recommendations13181

The apple sauce and pudding were the best part... Bronte private msg quote post Address this user
I havent had to buy them for decades and the ones i have from before are yellow and the boards dont fit.

I was going to buy a set off amazon but after seeing kaptain mike give it bad reviews i decided im not dealing with a guess.

I dont need many i typically buy graded books, but occasionally i come accoss raw books and would prefer to bag tbem before mailing them to be graded.

I read tbe best solution is to get silver age bags and boards. I do come across some silvers and i cant stand tight fitting bags.
Plus i need some give because my hands shake.

They dont need to be gerbers and mylites, as they are just temporary place holders until i get them graded. Maybe 6 months to a year is all they need to last.

Can someone recommend a cheap set that will definitely work? Preferably off amazon, but ebay or what not will be okay too.

Bcw poly and Bcw boards in silver age is what I use for all my dreck. The Collectors choice brand diamond offers are cloudy and have extra material on the back so its hard to get all the air out when you close them.

Disclaimer: key word here was cheap and for short term storage. Don't chastise me for the use of poly bags, ha.

For cheaper bags I use Hot Flips on eBay. SA or GA bags w/boards run about $23 per hundred, but also graded bags, Mylites, etc.

They ship from NY. I also sometimes use Columbia Sports Card on eBay. They ship from Washington.

One more stupid question.

If it is resealable is the sticky part in the flap or the body of the bag?

Edit
And thank you for those who contributed.

Usually it is on the body.

I get BCW bags/boards, usually third-party on Amazon. There should be sellers that have both as a combo deal.

I buy my regular bags and boards from there too for most of my new books. The bags are not flimsy and the price is really good. All my better stuff goes in Mylite2.

I just placed an order with BCW and am very happy with the price I paid, and the quality of the products. Also, on my last order, I tried the resealable bags, and I don't want to ever go back! The time and cost to tape the bags is gone, love it.
I ordered 1000 resealable silver bags, 2000 silver boards, 100 graded size bags, and with shipping, and after discount, it came out to $186. Great price.

I like the Ultra Pro Preservers for submissions. They have an integrated board and a nice buffer on the sides

@BrianGreensnips Any particular reason you don't like them? I like the ability to remove the comic without fighting the tape.

These are evil. Do not use them. You will lay a book on top of the exposed adhesive. It never fails. It will be Baron Zemo all over again.

Just taking a book out of a resealable bag scares me. Try using a single piece of tape, in the middle and angled slightly from upper right corner to lower left corner. Unless it's super tape, it's pretty easy to lift it by getting a finger under the flap, on the right side of of the tape.

I make my Mylites resealable and I love it. 1 - 1 1/2 inch strip of archival adhesive center flap. When i open the flap it pull the adhesive apart and is not too sticky and sticks to itself again just enough to keep the flap down.

It is too easy to get the adhesive stuck to the comic book. I use tape, however I always remove the tape when taking the book out.

Ive never had the problem of getting the adhesive stuck to a comic. Maybe I'm just lucky. I have resealable bags and regular bags and both work pretty well.

I'm also not a fan of those self-adhesive bags. Why even risk it.

I love Mylite2's and Fullbacks for the better books.

I have been using these on the back of my Mylar bags. They come off easy enough if I want to remove a book. I used to use regular tape on them but I could never get the tape off clean and then it would tear the tape. This would be an ugly look especially when I was doing shows and the Mylar would be retaped about 3 times if someone had wanted to take a closer look at the book. Sometimes I use blue painter's tape if it is a book that I am in the middle of pressing or getting ready to send off for grading. The Stick-It stickers are pretty expensive though. $8.95 for 100 of them. They come in different colors. I bought the clear ones but next time I will get colored ones.

I fold one of the ends of tape, to about an 1/8", to leave a little bit of a handle to help remove and reapply tape. Works pretty well.

I like to use Mylites 2 with Fullbacks for anything worth keeping long term - expensive, but crystal clear and never yellows, sticks to other bags, or needs to be changed. Every book I submit to CBCS travels to them in Mylar. One of the perks of working there must be you get an endless supply of free Mylites!
The last time I picked up regular storage bags (and boards), the only bags available at the store at that time were the resealable kind. I had never used this type before (and not trusting myself - I just know I would forget and place a comic right on it), decided to not use the sticky strip. So I am going old school and using tape to seal them. I used to use blue painter’s tape, but even that was requiring too much force to remove. So I now use Scotch Removable Tape on all my bags and I have been very satisfied with the results.
