Not so far. They had a few lots last week, like a Vision & Scarlet Witch run, but I didn't watch it live. Today was toys, and it sounds like next week will be at least partly GI Joes. Even if they do, I'm not sure at this point if they'll break out any big guns. Sounds like even on the toy front they're keeping a lot of the good stuff for when they reopen. But I'll be sure to holler if they do.

Just out of curiosity, when do they expect to open? Seems to me they should've opened by now.

I think they could if they wanted to, but fixing some things is taking time (they just had a setback with electrical... old buildings are a pain) and I don't think they're that eager with COVID. A while back they said they were going to aim for Labor Day but that obviously didn't happen. I think they're trying to get it in a shape they're really happy with and then they'll open, or if the Facebook sales stop paying bills before that.

They coincidentally put an update in their gofundme today. It's a long one but I copied it below for the curious.

It's been a while since we came up for air and made an update here! It's so easy to forget when we're doing our Sunday livestreams over on Facebook that we're not actually talking directly to ALL of you! It feels like things either happen so fast that we can't gather our thoughts, or nothing new is happening and we don't know what to write about! But it's definitely time to catch you all up here!!

Truth is - A LOT of work has been done since our last update!!!

Firstly ... we have the POWER!!! After months of no lights, ELECTRIC IS BACK!!! A shiny NEW electrical panel - INSTALLED! Lots of walls torn down, and crawling under the building done, and new lines RUN! Outlets, switches, junction boxes, lights and fixtures! PLUS: 100% NEW fixtures, lines and power out to the warehouse/garage to replace all the fried stuff!

It took a long time to get the permits we needed so work could start, and then it tends to stall again when inspections are needed. There is lots more yet to do - but LOTS of crucial electrical work has been done, and we are beyond excited by it!!

We also have a new HVAC system!!!! Our old heater was a casualty of the fire, and our wall and window ACs were fried from the electrical surge, but the new central HVAC system will keep you all cool in the summer and warm in the winter while you shop and hang out with us!!!! No more hot and cold spots!!

Also: new receipt & inventory label printers, tons of new light fixtures and about a billion light bulbs, new point of sale computer & modem/router, new security system - just to name a handful of things blown on June 3rd that needed to be replaced ... all able to be replaced because of YOU!

EVERY DIME - and more - that you folks chipped in to help us is fueling these repairs and electrical replacements. During the lockdown, Farpoint kept itself above water, but the fire totally decimated our reopening hopes. Without all of you, Farpoint would not have survived 2020, let alone been able to move into the future!

We are so beyond grateful to all of you for that!! <3

From a personal perspective, we are staying positive and chugging along, working on smaller repairs that we can tackle without professionals, as well as keeping the machine that is Farpoint moving until we can reopen!

Speaking of reopening - have no doubt –
WE WILL REOPEN!
There is no IF, only WHEN!!

Our original tentative plan was a big reopening bash for Labor Day Weekend. COVID slowdowns and the sheer amount of work to be done made that date, unfortunately impossible! We've learned that trying to quote specific dates doesn't seem to work with this project! BUT we are once again TENTATIVELY hoping: Christmas or New Year reopening.

There are a lot of factors that affect that, especially with Covid flaring back up. We want to assure that our repair folks, our customers, and our families are all safe and healthy, and also make sure that everything we do, we do RIGHT.

We've been saying for months that we can't wait to reopen and "get back to normal". But we've realized recently that "normal" is no longer an option!

We owe it to all of you who put yourselves out there for us to reopen better than we closed! Taking this crazy tragedy we were dealt and turning it into an opportunity to reopen BETTER than we closed is the LEAST we can do for you all. We genuinely feel like leaving any “t” uncrossed or any “i” undotted would be like a slap in the face to you all.

At the end of this rebuild, we want to be able to look back and say we reopened better than ever, better than we closed, and as the BEST possible Farpoint.

And we will - because of the HUGE outpouring of LOVE from all of YOU!

FARPOINT WILL REOPEN!!!!!!

In the meantime …

Hang out with us once a week!

Farpoint Bartertown is the best way to catch up with us! Every Sunday at 5 PM EST on Facebook Live, we host a weekly update/home shopping show we call Farpoint Bartertown – it updates all of you every week as to our progress, it helps us pay the bills, and it keeps us engaged with our community! So please stop by sometime and hang out with us!

OH, and … sell us your stuff!!!!

Being closed, we're not getting the usual walk-in folks asking "hey, do you buy toys and games"? We need stock - WE WANT YOUR OLD STUFF!!!!!

Being able to turn this ordeal into a positive thing, because so many of you who love us and love what we do, is our greatest hope for 2020.

Thank you all so much for you love and support, and for letting us KNOW every day that what we do matters.

<3,
Penelope

They're late because their internet wasn't cooperating, but Legends are just starting now https://www.facebook.com/farpointtoys/videos/217830276394494

Keeping the thread alive with a quick update - sounds like they're aiming for May to open. They've been longtime hosts of a free (to have a table at and to attend) toy sale and want to have it again this year. They've still been having the weekly claim sales on Facebook, although nothing comic-focused for me to hype here.

Also, if anyone is interested, they set up a Patreon. You can buy in at different tiers to get a) a preview and early shot at things that will be up for sale; b) access to a once-a-month 'free' claim sale (you pay the Patreon subscription, of course, but anything you grab during the sale is free) plus a; c) an always-on 10% off in-store purchases deal and a custom goodie every other month or so, plus a and b.

They just had the first free claim sale over the weekend; if you've watched any of the other sales it was similarly fun. They try to pull things they know that the Patreons will like, although they of course can't guarantee that you'll get them. I got a random old Batman, a MOC Luke Skywalker, and a vintage My Little Pony that my daughter (and somewhat the wife and I) will enjoy. https://www.patreon.com/farpointtoys/

Comic toys today if anyone likes those. Expect the usual amount of chatting (which is to say a lot if you haven't joined them before) along the way. Starting around now, running for usually two hours.

@xkonk, I was so exited when I read the word "comics" in your post that my brain filtered out the rest of the sentence. When I saw the beginning of the broadcast, I saw the figures and wondered what the heck. I just re-read your post and realized that you said "comic toys". Aaaaargh! My bad. LOL.

still waiting for a comic book sale.

@sportshort haha, sorry to get your hopes up! I'm still waiting too, but I have picked up some fun toys along the way. My daughter is enjoying the goodies at least

Looks like there are a few books amongst the toys today if anyone is feeling patient enough to sit through: https://www.facebook.com/farpointtoys/videos/441335123788591/

At least there were comics. I didn't find anything I wanted but it is what it is. Thanks for the tip. hopefully there will be more comics at some time. what happened to their comic book partner? did they off him? I think I only saw him the first week (i could easily be wrong that was a year ago).

No, that's right. They talk about him each week when they introduce themselves and he's in the comments most weeks, they just aren't together in person in the store. Taking the pandemic stuff seriously.
