CBCS Pressing Update11521

CBCS Pressing SteveRicketts private msg quote post Address this user
Hi, everyone. I'd like to share what I can as far as the current situation at CBCS Pressing...

Aside from large volume orders from a few customers, we are currently pressing standard tier books from mid-August. Expedited orders, and any Fast Pass orders are very close to being on time (give or take an odd order). The large volume orders are being worked in, so not to completely halt the flow of volume from our other customers.

We have a plan in place to do a major upgrade to CBCS Pressing. The plan announcement is temporarily on hold due to the current COVID-19 situation, and the unpredictable hourly changes that are happening around the world. For now, we are going to wait until there is enough stability that our plan, and timeline, can be made with more predictability. The moment that time comes, I will follow up and let everyone know what the plan will be.

Given the current world environment with COVID-19, please understand that we can not predict any interruptions in production, but we are currently working, and will continue to do so, until such time arrives that we are not allowed to. Just know that your comics are safe with us until work has been completed and they are shipped out.

I do hope and pray that you and your families remain safe and healthy.

Thanks,
Steve Ricketts
Director of Operations
CBCS Pressing

I'm making this a new thread because the old pressing thread is about to reach it's response limit, and I don't want this to get lost. I'll pin it after 24 hours as most people don't look at the pinned threads.

Appreciate the update. What's the estimated time frame moving forward. Does it take 2 weeks to get to books submitted in September as an example

So you guys still will be pressing during all this even though you aren’t accepting new submissions?

@Batman66 I can't predict what will happen from this moment going forward. Any submissions you have not shipped, please hold them until further notice. As soon as we start accepting submissions again, it will be announced.

@teacha777 The pressing office is open for now, as the state of Florida has not called for non-essential employees to stop working...yet. It could happen at any time. Again, please hold any submissions until we give an update.

I’m holding out hope that Steve does all the pressing in his basement, so being in lockdown should help get those pressing TATs under control....right Steve?!! 😳

Stay healthy & safe.

Good to know that pressing is still open to hopefully catch up and all my books are stuck in pressing at the moment. Be safe

Quick question, I chose pressing on my order and then screening. The amount for pressing turned to $0 after being $15 when I clicked screen. Will my books still be pressed and cleaned? Do I ship them to Dallas or Florida? Thanks
Post 10 IP   flag post
COLLECTOR dielinfinite private msg quote post Address this user
@Madman Did you select Grade screening or Press screening?

If it was grade screening then the book should be pressed then the book will be screened and only graded if it meets the minimum grade you specified. So the final grading fees are still unknown.

If you selected Press screening then the book will be examined before pressing to see if it would benefit from a press. If it passes that screen then it would be pressed before being graded. Your pressing fees are uncertain until the book is screened

If you selected both then the book will be screened at both levels and both the pressing and grading fees are in limbo.

I think regardless of which screening you choose, the order form might revert the cost to zero until all the charges are sorted out.

@Jesse_O please move it after Texas reopens for business. At least right now in Florida they can keep pressing and hopefully get caught up

How do I know if my comic has been pressed as I asked and paid for? Is it marked on the invoice anywhere?
I can give you my order number to look up.
Thanks!

I don't believe this....and I know you don't care that I don't believe this. GAC private msg quote post Address this user
@RangerDoug275 if you go into your dash and select your submission # then select the comic you should see something like this.

This tells you if you paid for pressing.

If your asking how can you tell if it's already been Pressed, as in where your book is within the CBCS network, you can't. It won't say Pressing...it'll just move into the grading process after it's been pressed.

I believe this is how it works.

@RangerDoug275 Customer service via email can look it up by your order number.

However, keep in mind that there is currently a massive backlog with pressing, at least 7+ months by my last count, likely to grow if they are forced to close due to the current viral sotuation. So if you requested pressing they are likely in line to be pressed but when they will be pressed is anyone’s guess at the moment.

@SteveRicketts Any update on where standard pressing is currently at? 3 weeks ago it was at mid-August 2019. Has there been any significant movement? Won’t be long until we’re seeing a full year turnaround time for pressing :/

Sorry, I didn’t see that the Florida location was closed as of a week ago and will resume after the move to Texas.

I wonder if this means the Clearwater office will be closing. I gotta say I love the $5 fee to have my books shipped back and forth to Texas. That has saved me a lot of shipping cost. Even though it has added a couple of weeks to my TATs.

I'm sending in some books to take advantage of the April discount code. Even biting the bullet to get them pressed, but fast pressed so that maybe they'll be a Christmas present to myself.
