If you ever run out of ideas for a cover, just have the whole team bust through something.

It's pretty rare to see a cover with this much pink. I like red covers better, but it looks good to me.

Great cover by Perez and Austin. And can it really be over 40 years ago that I bought this comic off a newsstand?

This is the first Kitty Pride (Emma Frost and the White Queen too). Another double dose.

I received this one in another trade with another CBCS forum friend (thanks, Ryan). Dazzling isn't it?

Loving that Byrne, Claremont, Austin run.

It's amazing how they went from reprints and on the verge of being cancelled to the number 1 comic.

To sounds like an old man, now they'd have rebooted six times and you'd have shown us at least 6 numbers 1 issues.

Now get off my lawn! <shakes fist>

The Dark Phoenix Saga continues - must reading for any comic book fan (but I am not a huge fan of this cover).

Wolverine slices and dices a bunch of the Hellfire Club's elite group of weirdly costumed killer guards in this issue! Does anyone else think they look like crash-test dummies?

Another cover swipe (or a swipeable cover?).

The ninth and final part of the Dark Phoenix Saga. Epic.

Scott leaves (no one really cares) and more guest appearances than there are variants for Detective #1000 (okay, maybe not that many.

Kitty Pride joins, but the big news is that we find out that Wolverine's first name is Logan, and he gets a new costume.

I always loved how the logo still has the damage done from the previous issue. That's attention to detail. A remarkable storyline and one of my favorites. Growing up, I had the X-Men Classic version of 137. I had no idea what was going on in it or why the X-Men were fighting on the moon but I read and re-read it til it fell apart.

Some of my favorite storylines were the Sentinels, the Phoenix saga, Starjammers, and the Brood

This is such an awesome accomplishment. I wish the latest Xmen incarnation was as good as these older runs. I may be in the minority, but I have not been impressed with Hickman's run.

Thank you, each and every one of you. Should I keep going? Maybe stop at 150 or 200? What do you think?

At least 141 and 142. Then a smattering of whatever you want. My honeypot of X-Men would be about 205-281. The JR Jr, Silvestri, Lee era was when X-Men came onto my radar.

My vote is to keep going.

I’m loving seeing these covers.

I got i to them right about 143, and unfortunately missed the Phoenix saga in real time.

This might be blasphemy, but I noticed Claremont definitely borrowed his ideas from other sources. Brood first Alien, etc...

And those mid 80s costumes are a little tough to look at it, but it’s a great blast from the past!

You are not alone!

I’ve been trying to give it some time, but I’m just not moved by it.

I truly think the continuity was just too much for any writer.

Funny thing is I liked Hickmans run on Avengers, but he seems to recycle some key points: teleportation, character wearing a helmet all the time, some kind of garden, very cosmic in scale, etc...

I’ll give it a year, but I’m a little disappointed.
