I've only submitted 10 raw comics for grading so far and it was through CBCS. I'm considering sending about 30 more comics in before the end of the year but I'm a bit disappointed in the membership limitations at CBCS. Will CBCS ever offer a membership tier similar to CGC where you pay $150 for a membership and get $150 to use on grading for any tier? Seeing as how I don't care if I have to wait a few more weeks or even a few more months for my comic books to be graded and returned, I have no incentive to buy a membership that provides coupons for fast pass, 2 day modern or Rapid. I understand there are several pros and cons to each company and I'm happy with CBCS, I just wish there were other membership options. |

Why would you pay for a membership when a membership isn't required to submit?

What's the % discount versus not paying a $5 invoice fee?

Quote:Originally Posted by DrWatson CBCS is more affordable by $5 if I was to submit to CBCS w/o a membership versus submitting to CGC with a membership. The downside is if I plan to resell the majority of the comics I submit, the $5 invoice fee will likely pay for itself with the sale of a single comic. However, at CGC there's the separate invoice fee per grading tier, separate shipping per tier, newton rings, a minimum 25 comic submission for press screening. Also, press screening of a single grade per submission, so if I want to adjust my grade screen per comic this isn't an option as CGC. CGC will also charge $5 reject fee per grade screen whereas I think CBCS has an unwritten policy where if 70% of your comics pass the screen and are graded you aren't charged any grade screening fees for the remaining 30%. Overall CBCS is the better company IMO but I also feel they should expand their membership options. |

I have never had a CBCS slab sell for less than a book graded by the cgc. That said, I don't auction off CBCS slabs. If CBCS would get on the Registry bandwagon, it would help with the perceived disparity in sales of non-key books.
