CPG can be hit or miss, I've seen stuff priced a lot higher than the average eBay price, and I've also seen stuff that's hot on eBay but CPG still has it listed undervalued. Ultimately though you can ask whatever you want to ask price wise, but it you want it to sell quickly you'll want to match or undercut other sellers with the same book.

@DarthLego that's how I got the 2 I did. I'm just going to invest in getting them pressed and graded. Graded they've been going for $100 to $150 on ebay. Is it true there is only 100 of those out there. Seems like there is 100 on ebay alone. Lol

Got it. I just forgot to log in.

@Stormnut I believe that was a 1:100 variant. That doesn't mean there are only 100, it means that a comic store had to order 100 regular copies just to get 1 copy of it. The actual number printed will depend on the total print run and how many stores ordered one. It's hard to guess the actual number without DC releasing that information, but you could say roughly 10 were printed for every 1000 of the regular cover.

@DarthLego aw, thanks for the info. So there are more than 100 out there then. Hahaha

Be careful out there.

@Stormnut If they printed about 50,000 it'd be somewhere around 500. I haven't a clue what the original print run on that was however.

@DarthLego I'm new to the comic game so not down with the terminology as I should. Glad I asked then.

While it's true that a store would have to order 100 copies to get 1 copy of the incentive, that doesn't necessarily mean that the print run was limited to 1% of the overall print run.

As @DarthLego says, the publishers don't release the actual print runs. (And there are always some percentage extra to account for damage or errors).

Yep, and also, just because the store can order one doesn't mean they will. It can be possible that only 100 get ordered up even if the print run would have allowed for more. It all depends on what the stores do. Some 1:100s can fetch crazy prices just due to not being able to find a copy, and others can be pretty easy to come by.

This is like the WW #38's with the Finch covers that I have. They were 1 for every 100 that a store ordered. The print run was 39,600. That makes a variant run of 396. The owner of my LCS believes the actual run to be 200-300. But who knows?

CPG seems to operate using a formula, and not reports or research into actual sales, for its "values".

Is there a better value site for comics?

It's slim pickings for free price guides. When I get home later I'll provide a link to another one, don't know if it's better or worse as far as accuracy.

eBay is actually a good starting point. But generally, I've found that if you work the forums and local store contacts, you can find the same items for 10-20% cheaper.

Also utilize the power of the make offer button! You'd be surprised at some of the deals you can pull off below FMV if a book has gone a little bit cold for a seller.

@DarthLego did that on a Aspen Batman #1. Really more into selling comics on ebay for just a little bit of money.

They use a pricing algorithm, that's why a lot of their prices seem crazy.
